Objective: to validate an educational booklet for people with intestinal stoma as a technological resource in the teaching of self-care. Method: a methodological research for the construction and validation of an educational booklet by nine expert judges and 25 people with stomas. The agreement index of at least 80% was considered to guarantee the validation of the material. Results: regarding the objectives of the booklet, all the judges evaluated the items as “adequate” or “totally adequate”, with a content validity index of 1.00. Regarding the structure and presentation of the booklet, the total index was 0.84. Regarding relevance, the total was 0.97 and the general index of the educational booklet was 0.89, confirming the validation with the judges. All items of the organization, writing style, appearance and motivation of the material were considered as validated by the target audience, reaching a total agreement index of 0.99. Conclusion: in the context of health education, the booklet was considered valid and suitable for the care of people with intestinal stoma, and can be used in teaching, research, extension and care for people with intestinal stoma.

RESUMOBuscou-se neste estudo verificar a associação das características sociodemográficas e clínicas com a autoestima das pessoas estomizadas. Trata-se de estudo transversal, com abordagem exploratória e analítica e amostragem por conveniência, desenvolvido no Centro de Reabilitação e Habilitação do Rio Grande do Norte, no município de Natal. Para a coleta de dados foram utilizados dois instrumentos: o primeiro foi adaptado com base no desenvolvido por Silva (2013) com questões referentes a aspectos sociodemográficos e clínicos dos pacientes; e o segundo foi a Escala de Autoestima de Rosenberg/ UNIFESP-EPM (RSES), com conteúdo relativo aos sentimentos de respeito e aceitação de si próprio. Referente às características sociodemográficas, houve predominância do sexo masculino (62,2%), com escolaridade até o ensino fundamental (71, 1%); e nos aspectos clínicos, houve o predomínio de pessoas sem comorbidades (54,4%) e colostomizados (80,0%). Em relação à associação da autoestima com as características sociodemográficas e clínicas, obteve-se significância estatística apenas com a escolaridade (p=0,007), embora outros aspectos tenham apresentado resultados próximos, como a renda (p=0,091) e comorbidades (p=0, 197). Portanto, constatou-se que houve associação estatística significante da autoestima apenas com a escolaridade, embora as outras variáveis também estejam relacionadas à autoestima. Os profissionais de saúde devem considerar esses aspectos para o planejamento da assistência ao estomizado, com ênfase no grau de instrução, o qual influencia no entendimento sobre a própria condição de saúde, bem como o acesso aos serviços disponíveis, proporcionando os cuidados e orientações necessárias para o alcance de uma autoestima satisfatória. Reconstruir, a partir da escuta, a trajetória de vida de uma paciente renal crônica em tratamento hemodialítico constitui o objetivo deste artigo. Como procedimento metodológico, trabalhamos com a história oral de vida, utilizando a entrevista como principal instrumento. A análise se pauta nas narrativas da colaboradora, ancorada em estudos que tratam da história oral e da subjetividade humana, com destaque para a resiliência. Foi possível apreender, com sua trajetória de vida, que a superação das dificuldades é um marco da singularidade. Portanto, sua história nos leva a concluir que, apesar das adversidades e do sofrimento, existe no ser humano a força de navegar nas torrentes e conseguir ser feliz.

Objective: to evaluate the scientific evidence about the activities proposed by the NIC "Care with ostomy" intervention. Method: integrative review, conducted in March 2016 in the MEDLINE, CINAHL, Web of Science, SCOPUS and LILACS databases. The studies were categorized from the identification of the interventions according to the taxonomy of the intervention in the NIC << Care for the ostomy >>, as well as the proposed activities. Results: collection resulted in 23 articles, mostly qualitative (52%), with level of evidence IV (60.9%), identifying, in these, 23 of the 25 Nursing activities proposed in the NIC, and the activity "Orient the patient/important person regarding the use of ostomy device/care "the most frequent (60.9%). Conclusion: it was verified, therefore, that the most frequent actions performed by the nurses refer to the management guidelines of the ostoma with the inclusion of the caregiver and that there is a need for more studies with better levels of evidence in this subject. RESUMO Objetivo Verificar a acurácia das características definidoras do diagnóstico de enfermagem baixa autoestima situacional em pessoas com estomia. Método Estudo transversal e descritivo desenvolvido em duas etapas. A primeira foi realizada com 90 pessoas com estomia, procedendo às análises descritivas dos dados coletados. Na segunda fase, verificou-se a inferência diagnóstica com juízes enfermeiros. Resultados A frequência do diagnóstico de enfermagem baixa autoestima situacional foi baixa (23,3%). Entre as características definidoras, prevaleceram: verbalizações autonegativas (33,3%), comportamento indeciso (28,8%) e comportamento não assertivo (26,1%). As mais sensíveis foram comportamento indeciso (71,0%) e expressões de sentimento de inutilidade (71,0%). Conclusão Observou-se que o diagnóstico de enfermagem baixa autoestima situacional pode ser identificado nas pessoas com estomia, e que há características definidoras nesse diagnóstico que melhor predizem e aumentam a chance da sua ocorrência. Nesse sentido, ressalta-se a importância da assistência de enfermagem no processo de adaptação e autoestima.

Objective: To assess the quality of life of people with intestinal stoma and its association with sociodemographic and clinical characteristics. Method: Cross-sectional and analytical study conducted with people with intestinal stoma. An instrument was used for sociodemographic and clinical characterization: COH-QOL-OQ, validated in Brazil. Results: The sample included 152 people with stomas. There were significant differences among all dimensions (p-value < 0.01) of quality of life. The dimension spiritual well-being had the highest mean, with 6.69 (±1.56), followed by the psychological well-being dimension, 5.00 (±1.94), social well-being, 4.63 (±1.83), and physical well-being, 4.54 (±1.77). Marital status, religion, type of stoma, and permanence had statistically significant associations with dimensions of quality of life (p-value < 0.05). Conclusion: The assessment of quality of life in people with intestinal stoma presented lower scores in the physical, social, and psychological dimensions. There was an association between better quality of life scores and people with definitive ileostomy, in a domestic partnership and practicing other religions.

The study aimed to examine the effects of the quality of life on the adaptation of people with an intestinal stoma. Cross-sectional study with 152 people with an ostomy. Three instruments were used: the sociodemographic and clinical characterization, Scale for the Level of Adaptation of Ostomy Patients, and City of Hope Quality of Life - Ostomy Questionnaire. The multiple linear regression model, multivariate technique, and cluster were used. The determination coefficient showed that 94.1% of the variability of the Adaptation scores is explained by the dimensions of quality of life. It can be seen that the highest standardized coefficients are the psychological dimension (β = .386) and the social dimension (β = .365), in which they produce the greatest changes in the average adaptation scores. The psychological and social well-being dimensions are the ones that most contribute to raising the levels of adaptation.

Objective: to compare the effect of clinical simulation and of a lectured class on Nursing students' knowledge about the colostomy irrigation procedure. Method: a quasi-experimental study conducted in September 2019 with Nursing students attending Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte in Natal, Brazil. The instruments used were a questionnaire targeted at sociodemographic issues and a knowledge analysis tool at three different moments. The Control Group had a lectured class and the Intervention Group took part in the laboratory simulation. The Chi-Square and Mann-Whitney tests were used for data analysis. Results: no statistically significant differences were observed between the groups in terms of the sociodemographic profile. In the analysis of the means of correct answers, better measures were observed in the post-test of both groups when compared to the pre-test; however, in the retention test, the students from the Intervention Group had better and statistically significant results than those from the Control Group (p-value=0.015). Conclusion: it is noticed that both teaching strategies exerted a positive effect on the students' learning process. Although both are equally important and effective, simulation showed better performance in knowledge retention. It is expected that this research enables educators to reflect on their work and allows them to use strategies that enhance their teaching practice, in order to benefit teaching and the students' development.
