Phenomenology was originally a philosophical movement Edmund Husserl (1859-1838), influential to the sociologist Alfred Schutz (years 1899-1959), then developed by Peter L. Berger and Thomas Luckman, Sarte, Michel Foucault, and Jacques Derrida. Phenomenology is a part of science that has a relationship with philosophy, such as ontology, epistomology, logic and ethics. Phenomenology is not idealism, formalism, realism, positivism, but existentialism closer. Phenomenology examines human existence. Phenomenology tries to reveal subjective meanings. Researchers try to remember, understand seriously, and want to go to something beautiful and good, that's intentionality. As a science and method, phenomenology seeks meaning, positions the individual as the giver of meaning, which then results in action based on experience. Edmund Husserl and Alfred Schutz put individuals as creators, philosophical, while Peter L Berger and Thomas Luckman in "social construction" tended to find a balance between structure (society) and individuals. The phenomenological development of the social world was carried out by Alfred Schutz. The fundamental meaning of forming social is done by Sartre. Foucault looks for the origin of the meaning of social institutions in the form of prisons as a center of solitude. Whereas Jacques Derrida is more focused on examining the phenomenology of language, refining the social meaning of "deconstruction". Since then, classical phenomenology has focused on epistemology, logic, ontology and ethics. Then contemporary phenomenology seeks to dismantle various aspects behind social life, including education.
Teaching and learning in the school aim to enable students to gain knowledge and change behavior. Therefore, schools need to instil the values of social solidarity to respond to differences in society. This research uses a qualitative approach to the type of case study. Data collection was taken through interviews and documentation. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model with data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion/verification. The technique of data validity by triangulation. The results showed that strategic steps in building the social solidarity of students during online learning include: (1) The school uses Moodle application to support online learning, which can control the teacher's learning activities; (2) The principal determines by instructing all teachers to a) Each learning hour uses virtual face-to-face using zoom or google meet followed by Moodle application, b) Creating integrated learning tools in forming social solidarity values, c) Using learning methods and models that emphasize group learning; and (3) Schools facilitate infaq online.
This study aims to find improvements in the quality of the process and learning outcomes of sociology through problem-based learning modeling integrated with Islamic values and empirical research in madrasas. This study uses a class action research development approach. The research subjects were 32 students of class XII in an Islamic school. Each cycle involves planning, implementing actions, observing and reflecting. In the cycle 1, students use the problem-solving approach, while in the cycle 2 they use a modified problem-solving approach. The action modification of problem-based learning is implemented by integrating Islamic values and empirical research activities. Based on the results of observations, interviews, and tests, the results of the study prove that the quality of the sociology learning process increases, as well as student learning outcomes from the affective, cognitive, and psychomotor aspects. Integrating Islamic values increases the spirit or motivation of students in learning, while empirical research provides opportunities for students to solve learning problems with a scientific approach. Data collection activities during empirical research encourage students to think more critically and thoroughly. Therefore, this study concludes that problem-based learning cannot always be effectively applied, but there needs to be modified under the objectives and content of the learning material.
Purpose of the study: To explore the effectiveness of the English-speaking acculturation strategy in improving the English ability of school members so that they can internationalize the character of Islamic educational institutions. Methodology: Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, with observation, interview, and documentation as data collection techniques, and reduction, display, and conclusion become the stages of data analysis. The research sample of 255 teachers, employees, and students was determined purposively at Taman Islam Middle School, Sidoarjo, Indonesia. Main Findings: This study found that an English-speaking acculturation strategy was effective in improving the English-speaking ability of school residents (up 4.63 from target 3) so that the internationalization of the character of Islamic education institutions, innovative, was formed. Applications of this study: This study is useful to improve the quality and become a prototype of the actualization of the character of international education institutions, through the strategy of acculturation in English, especially in Islamic schools. Novelty: This study creates the basis and prototype for the actualization of international standard Islamic education institutions, through an English-speaking acculturation strategy. The principal’s policy requires the English to inspire its representatives, together formulate and realize an English acculturation program; inspire teachers, staff, and students to carry out various English-speaking acculturation activities both inside and outside the school. Cultivation of English becomes more effective. The English skills of teachers, employees, and students from the aspects of listening, grammar, reading, writing, and speaking have increased, so that the internationalization of Islamic institutional character, in the form of integrity, professionalism, innovation, responsibility, and example, can be formed more quickly.
