ABSTRACTThis paper utilized the transversal water theme and the stages of the water treatment plant in the form of an intervention project in the Institutional Program of the Initiation to Teaching Grant (PIBID) with students of the second year of high school of the José de Alencar State School in the city of Rorainópolis-RR. The objective was to contribute to the construction of knowledge and popularization of chemistry as a science using the chemical concepts involved in the steps of water treatment stages, evaluating the importance of intelligent use, preservation and prevention of waterborne diseases. We worked with a sequence of activities based on the qualitative approach, observation, application of questionnaires, construction of model, lecture, experimentation and assembly of informative mural. The results were satisfactory in terms of sensitization to the intelligent use of water, the better perception of chemistry in daily life, and students' motivation to study, read and work in teams. According to the observations and testimonials of the students and the titular professor, it was noticed that the participating students were more interested in the study of the inorganic chemistry content.
PIBID. ABSTRACTWe worked with the biodiesel theme in an intervention project related to a discipline of Chemistry, in the third year of high school, of a public school in Rorainópolis -RR in 2015. The proposal allowed the contextualization of the theme in the teaching of chemistry, the environmental awareness regarding to frying oil residue, interaction among students, and encouraging the search for knowledge and making classes more interesting. A survey was made on the students' previous knowledge about the subject linking some concepts of organic chemistry. After the diagnosis, a sequence of actions was developed for the application of the project. In the practical part, the students helped to set up the small scale plant and the model, and they realized the meaning of researching, designing and also preserving the environment. At the end, the evaluation of the learning methodology was carried out. The results were very satisfactory and it was noticed that the students prefer differentiated classes and projects that involve experimentation related to the content worked in the classroom than the traditional classes. Therefore, the teacher should to strive to enhance his pedagogical practice in order to teach better.
