SUMMARY:We determined that the application of a 5-point scoring method by using an external manual compression method synchronized with the diastolic period of the carotid artery by sonoelastography was helpful in the management of thyroid nodules. The mean scores on sonoelastography were 2.74 Ϯ 0.97 for 62 benign nodules and 3.90 Ϯ 0.88 for 10 malignant nodules (P Ͻ .01). Eighty-seven percent of benign nodules were determined when a cutoff point between scores 3 and 4 was used.ABBREVIATIONS: FNAB ϭ fine-needle aspiration biopsy; SRU ϭ Society of Radiologists in Ultrasound
In clinical practice, it may be difficult to differentiate brachial plexus schwannoma from pathological lymph nodes. Schwannoma is a relatively rare neoplasm arising from Schwann cells of the peripheral nerve sheath. Although it can occur in any organ, including the extremities, trunk, and head, it rarely presents as an axillary or supraclavicular lesion. In this the article, a 59-year-old male patient with painless swelling in the right supraclavicular fossa and cystic lymphadenopathy reported on USG is presented.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
