Os preceitos da participação popular se fizeram presentes desde o movimento pela Reforma Sanitária que culminou com a concepção do SUS. A pandemia da COVID-19 impôs novos desafios ao sistema de saúde reforçando a observância de um efetivo controle social. Objetivo: identificar as ações de combate ao Coronavírus realizadas pelo Conselho Nacional de Saúde (CNS) por meio de atos normativos. Métodos: A metodologia constituiu um estudo documental baseado nos atos normativos publicados pelo CNS no período de janeiro a setembro de 2020. Foram encontradas um total de 76 documentos, sendo 6 (7,9%) resoluções, 65 (85,5%) recomendações e 5 (6,6%) moções. Foi realizada leitura na integra dos que mencionaram em enunciado ou ementa os descritores: pandemia; coronavírus; e COVID-19. Foram incluídas 12 recomendações e 1 resolução. Resultados: As recomendações trataram de temas variados. Das 12, 9 faziam recomendações ao Governo Federal ou Ministérios (75%). Os outros 25% constituíram recomendações a diferentes órgãos. Considerações finais: Entende-se como relevantes as ações realizadas pelo CNS, dada a sua capacidade fiscalizatória. Considera-se a necessidade da valoração da democracia e do reconhecimento aos meios formais de controle social no SUS.
Os dispositivos eletrocirúrgicos promovem hemostasia e possuem funções de corte, coagulação e dissecação dos tecidos. No entanto, estudos que avaliem o uso da eletrocirurgia em periodontia apresentam contradições. O presente estudo tem por objetivo revisar a literatura quanto a utilização de aparelhos eletrocirúrgicos em cirurgias periodontais. Realizou-se uma busca por artigos nas bases de dados PubMed e Portal Regional da BVS, utilizando os descritores: “periodontics” OR “gingiva” AND “electrosurgery”. A busca resultou em 33 artigos, dos quais, após aplicação dos critérios de inclusão e exclusão, procederam-se à seleção de 07 artigos. Os artigos demonstraram que a hemostasia proporcionada pelos dispositivos eletrocirúrgicos permite uma melhor visualização do campo cirúrgico, além de apresentarem um baixo custo em relação aos dispositivos de laser. Considera-se que os aparelhos de bisturis elétricos são dispositivos de fácil utilização, capazes de otimizar a execução de técnicas cirúrgicas periodontais, no entanto requerem preparo prévio dos profissionais para seu uso adequado.
Introdução: Desde a implantação da Política Nacional de Saúde Bucal, um aumento das equipes de saúde bucal e uma maior variedade de procedimentos odontológicos realizados passaram a ser observados. No entanto, o novo cenário epidemiológico imposto pela COVID-19 afetou a produção odontológica ambulatorial, comprometendo os avanços conquistados. Objetivo: Avaliar o impacto da COVID-19 na produção ambulatorial odontológica. Metodologia: Trata-se de uma série temporal interrompida realizada com dados secundários do Sistema Único de Saúde, no período entre 2016 e 2021, dividindo-o em dois segmentos de tempo, sendo um antes e outro após o primeiro caso diagnosticado no Brasil. Utilizou-se o software R Studio com um modelo de regressão linear segmentada. A autocorrelação foi corrigida usando regressão de Prais-Winsten. Resultados: Houve alteração estatisticamente significativa na quantidade de procedimentos após a interrupção (p<0,05). A série temporal apontou para tendência decrescente na produção. Conclusão: O decréscimo na quantidade de procedimentos, preexistente à pandemia, mostrou-se desfavorável à continuidade da assistência e evidenciou negligência à manutenção da produção odontológica no Brasil e regiões.
