This study investigates the mediating role of organizational commitment on the relationship between principals' empowering leadership and teachers' job performance. To this end, it employed a cross-sectional design, one of the quantitative methods. Data were collected through the "Empowering Leadership Behaviors Scale", "Organizational Commitment Scale" and "Job Performance Scale". The sample consisted of 324 teachers working in different cities in Turkey. They were employed through convenience sampling and responded to the scales online. Predictive relationships between variables were revealed using a structural equation model. Before testing the structural model, the validity of the scales and measurement model was investigated. The findings indicated that validity and reliability of scales were ensured. On the other hand, the fit indices regarding the measurement model satisfied the cutoff values in the literature. Since the data did not satisfy the multivariate normal distribution assumption, bootstrapping was used. The findings indicated that empowering leadership is positively associated with teachers' job performance and organizational commitment. On the other hand, organizational commitment boosts job performance. Lastly, empowering school leadership enhances organizational commitment, which in turn teachers' job performance. The findings were discussed based on the literature and some suggestions were made based on the findings.

The aim of this study is to determine Phd students' perceptions on 'doctorate education' and 'instructors' by means of metaphors. The study group consists of 63 students actively attending their doctorate education at various departments of some universities in Turkey. This group was chosen using criterion sampling method which is one of the purposive sampling methods. The current study was designed as a phenomenological study one of qualitative research methods. The data was analyzed through content analysis. To collect the data a semi structured form which was developed by the researchers was utilized. The results showed that participants totally produced 56 metaphors and 52 of them were different. When the metaphors were grouped based on the reasons put forward; 29 of the metaphors reflected positive perceptions, 25 of them reflected negative perceptions and two of them reflected neutral perceptions. Participants produced 58 metaphors for instructors and 43 of them were different. When these metaphors were grouped based on the reasons put forward, 38 of them reflected positive perceptions, 12 of them negative perceptions and one of them neutral perceptions. As for 7 metaphors, they reflected positive and negative perceptions simultaneously.

Bu çalışmanın amacı, Covid-19 salgını sürecinde öğretmenlerin algıladıkları "aşırı iletişim yükü" düzeylerini belirlemektir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda öncelikle orijinalinde "Aşırı İletişim Yükü Ölçeği" olarak adlandırılan ölçek, Covid-19 salgını bağlamında öğretmenlerin görüşlerini ortaya çıkaracak biçimde Türkçeye uyarlanmıştır. Tekil tarama modelinin benimsendiği araştırmada, çevrimiçi olarak üç farklı çalışma grubundan veri toplanmıştır. Birinci çalışma grubundan (n=150) toplanan veriler, ölçeğin açımlayıcı faktör analizi; ikinci çalışma grubundan (n=155) toplanan veriler, ölçeğin doğrulayıcı faktör analizi ve üçüncü çalışma grubundan (n=211) toplanan veriler ise ölçeğin betimsel istatistikleri için kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada elde edilen bulgular şu şekilde sıralanabilir: Türkçeye "Covid-19 Salgını Bağlamında Öğretmenlerin Algıladıkları Aşırı İletişim Yükü Ölçeği" olarak uyarlanan ölçek alanyazında istenen geçerlik ve güvenirlik ölçütlerini karşılayarak sekiz maddenin tek faktörde toplandığı bir yapı sergilemiştir. Araştırmaya katılan öğretmenlerin algıladıkları aşırı iletişim yükünün ölçeğin tüm maddelerinde ve toplamında "ara sıra" düzeyinde olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Demografik değişkenler bağlamında yapılan karşılaştırmalarda ise cinsiyet, okul türü ve mesleki kıdem değişkenleri öğretmenlerin algıladıkları aşırı iletişim yükü düzeyinde istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark oluşturmamaktadır. Bu bulguların eğitim örgütlerinin iletişimini yönlendiren yöneticiler açısından önemli içerimler barındırdığı söylenilebilir. Araştırma kapsamında uyarlanan ölçekten yararlanılarak öğretmenlerin algıladıkları aşırı iletişim yüküyle iş performansı, iş doyumu, psikolojik iyi oluş, mesleki tükenmişlik, okul etkililiği vb. değişkenler arasındaki ilişkileri irdeleyen çalışmalar yürütülebilir.

This study aims to investigate the mediating role of teachers’ organizational commitment (OC) on the relationship between their emotional labor (EL) and work engagement (WE). The study employed a cross-sectional design. The sample of the study consisted of the teachers working in Sakarya province of Turkey. They participated in the study voluntarily and responded scale items online. The findings showed that teachers’ perceptions of EL, OC and WE is relatively high. Also, there are statistically significant and positive correlations among variables. On the other hand, the findings confirmed the hypotheses. Teachers’ EL predicts their OC and WE. Additionally, OC predicts WE and plays a mediating role on the relationship between EL and WE. Based on the findings some suggestions were made.

Öz. İşbirlikçi iklim örgütte bireylerin bilgi paylaşımına yönelik inanç, değer ve varsayımlarını ifade eden ve bu yönde harcanan çaba ve gönüllülük sonucunda oluşan iklimdir. Mevcut araştırmanın amacı Sveiby ve Simons (2002) tarafından geliştirilen İşbirlikçi İklim Ölçeği'ni Türkçe'ye uyarlamaktır. Söz konusu ölçek dört alt boyut ve 20 maddeden oluşmaktadır. Her bir alt boyutta beş madde yer almaktadır. Ölçeğin dil yönünden geçerliliğini test etmek amacıyla İngilizce ve Türkçe formlar arasında korelasyon hesaplanmış; yapı geçerliği doğrulayıcı faktör analizi (DFA), alt boyutlar arası korelasyonlar ve madde analizi yoluyla incelenmiştir. Madde analizi kapsamında alt-üst %27'lik gruplar arasındaki farkın anlamlılığı ve madde toplam korelasyonları hesaplanmıştır. Ölçeğin iç tutarlılığı ise Cronbach's Alpha katsayısı yöntemi ile test edilmiştir. Elde edilen bulgular ölçeğin dil ve yapı yönünden geçerliğini ve güvenirliğini kanıtlar niteliktedir. Ölçeğin Türkçe nihai formunda orijinal ölçekten farklı olarak dört alt boyutta toplam 17 madde yer almaktadır. Orijinal ölçekte yer alan 3 madde farklı sebepler ile Türkçe versiyon dışında tutulmuştur.

This study adapts "Change Fatigue Scale" into Turkish cultural context for potential uses in future empirical studies. It also aims to validate it for educational organizations, so the items were revised accordingly. There were three different study groups in the study. The first group included 33 English teachers and there were 150 teachers in the second and third study groups. First of all, a rigorous language adaptation process was carried out. Achieving language equivalency of the scale, exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were conducted to test the construct validity. As for reliability, Cronbach's Alpha coefficient and items statistics were calculated. The findings showed that change fatigue scale had adequate psychometric properties when adapted into Turkish. A substantial theoretical contribution to the literature holds the significance of the current study. Additionally, the scale adapted into Turkish culture can be used in empirical studies in future and it can be a reference for further scale development efforts which can be regarded as the practical significance. The studies on change related constructs, organizational commitment, turn over intention, resilience and performance etc. can exploit the scale.
