Penelitian ditujukan untuk menghitung kebutuhan energi dan protein untuk hidup pokok dan untuk pertumbuhan pada ayam kampung umur 10-20 minggu. Sembilan puluh enam ekor ayam kampung umur 10 minggu yang dibagi dalam 4 kelompok perlakuan yaitu ayam yang diberikan ransum mengandung 3100 k.kal ME/kg dan 22% protein (perlakuan A), ransum yang mengandung 3000 K.kal ME/kg dan 20% protein (perlakuan B), ransum yang mengandung 2900 K.kal ME/kg dan 18% protein (perlakuan C) dan ransum yang mengandung 2800 K.kal ME/kg dan 16% protein (perlakuan D). Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 4 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan. Hasil penelitian ini mendapatkan bahwa kebutuhan energi untuk hidup pokok pada ayam kampung adalah: 138,77 W0,75 kcal/hari (W: berat badan ayam dalam kg), sedangkan kebutuhan protein untuk hidup pokok pada penelitian ini adalah 7,8 g/W0,75/hari. Kebutuhan energi untuk pertumbuhan atau kenaikan berat badan diperoleh 3,3 K.cal/1g kenaikan berat badan sedangkan kebutuhan protein untuk pertumbuhan adalah: 0,33 g protein setiap kenaikan 1g kenaikan berat badan.
Poultry production performance is reflected by body weight gain, ration conversion and carcass percentage. This study was conducted with the aim of knowing the optimum level of use of fermented pineapple peel in the ration on production performance and carcass percentage of male Peking ducks. The research material was male Peking duck aged 3 weeks with initial body weight of 343.90 ñ 0.90 g. 240 male Peking ducks were placed randomly in battery cages based on a Completely Randomized Design with 6 treatments and 5 replications, namely P0=ration without fermented pineapple peel (FPP); P1=the ration contains 5% FPP; P2=ration contains 10% FPP; P3=the ration contains 15% FPP; P4= ration contains 20% FPP and P5=the ration contains 25% FPP.àBased on One way ANOVA analysis and Duncan's test, it was found that the use of fermented pineapple peel 10% significantly (P<0.05) increased the final body weight (1.693g/head), body weight gain (1.350 g/head), and carcass percentage (55.25%). From the results of the study, it can be concluded that the optimum level of use of fermented pineapple peel with yeast culture on body weight gain, slaughter weight, carcass weight and carcass percentage, respectively: 8.80%; 8.40%; 7.25% and 9.50%.
Gelatin Production of Bali cattle skin protein extract is an alternative to obtain permitted gelatin. The objective of the research was to know the effect of concentration and different acetic acid curing time to gelatin characteristic of the animal skin and to determine the best of the characteristic. Indicators of them were pH value, the yield of gelatin, moisture content, protein, fat, viscosity and gel strength. The extraction of Bali cattle skin protein was conducted with curing for 2; 4; and 6 days and acetic acid on concentration 2%; 4%; 6% and 8%. Statistical analyzed showed that increased of acetic acid concentration and curing time and its interaction was significant (P<0.05) affected the quality of the animal skin gelatin. Index of effectiveness showed that the best treatments combination was on acetic acid concentration 8% and curing time 6 days (A4C3) in produced gelatin. Indicator of quality were yield of gelatin (11.91%); water concentration (10%); protein (88.13%); fat (0.98%) and viscosity (5.35 cP). It can be concluded that the increase of acetic acid concentration and curing time affected quantity and quality of the animal skin gelatin.
