The study was conducted to identify phenotypic characteristics of Lombok Muscovy ducks. A total of 100 adult male and 100 adult female Muscovy ducks. The research location was determined by purposive random sampling, while the determination of farmers and Muscovy ducks was done incidentally. Observations were made on each Muscovy duck by observing the color, body weight and size of body parts. The body size data were tabulated, averaged, and then analyzed descriptively; meanwhile, the plumage color data were calculated in frequency. To find the relation between size of body parts and body weight, data were analyzed using simple regression. The study found that the male Muscovy ducks had two plumage characteristics, consisting of white and black-white, both shared the same frequencies, while in the female Muscovy ducks, white color was more dominant compared to the black-white color. The colors of the beak were divided into two i.e., black with a white color in the middle and reddish-white with pink colors in the middle. The size of Lombok Muscovy ducks was rather small in comparison with the other Muscovy ducks. The size of male duck was larger than that of the female.
A study to evaluate the implementation of integrated poultry production through contract farming system in Lombok, NTB was carried out from June to November 2009. The descriptive methods were used whilst the data was collected using survey methods. Fi y contract farmers were selected to measure the business performance with references on management, performance production index, FCR, and percentage of mortality. The results of this study indicated that the contract broiler production was chosen due to: (1) risk sharing (27.6%), fi nancial credits (25.8%), and the guarantee of marketing (23.3 %). Dissatisfaction particularly in aspects of incentive determination, the quota, and margins. The margin ratios between farmers and integrators, 30%: 70%; 40%: 60% or 50%: 50% with no clear reasons. Performance parameter was as an expectation, suggesting feed quality and management aspects were well implemented. In respect to Syariah bank, its outstanding was well understood but it have not been a ractive to the contract farmers. The capital is not the main reason to work with the integrators. The government involvement was needed to encourage poultry industry growth and looking for the new potential region and legislation on maintaining environment. New investors should be encouraged to overcome instability price.
The objective of this study to determine the effect of feeding fresh garlic to ducks on decrease the cholesterol level of duck eggs. This study composed of two treatment groups. The duck in the first group (control) was fed local feed without spplemente d with fresh garlic, while in the second group was fed with local feed and supplemented with 50 grams of fresh garlic/duck/day. Egg yolk cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein (HDL), low-density lipoprotein (LDL), and triglycerides (TG) analysis were carried out at the end of the study using the ether extract method and then with the Cholesterol Oksidase Para Amino Penazone (CHOD-PAP) or enzymatic color test. Data was analysed using one way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) the results showed that fresh garlic reduced total cholesterol, LDL fraction, and triglyceride, but increased the HDL fraction of duck egg yolk. The total cholesterol, LDL fraction, and triglyceride of duck egg yolks dropped by around 15.98 mg per dL (8.06%), 10.40 mg per dL (12.97%), 64.92 mg per dL (12.71%), respectively, while the HDL fraction increased by 11.40 mg per dL (19.32%) The results of this study indicated that fresh garlic can be used to produce specific products such as low cholesterol and low fat duck eggs.
ABSTRAK Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mempelajari pengaruh pemberian pakan mengandung duckweed dengan penyajian berbeda pada itik lokal terhadap performan produksi dan kualitas kuning telur. Sebanyak 90 ekor itik berumur 24 minggu secara acak dibagi menjadi 18 kelompok dan ditempatkan masing-masing pada unit kandang berukuran 2 x 1 m 2. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap dengan tiga perlakuan yang masing-masing terdiri atas 6 ulangan. Perlakuan P1 adalah P1 adalah kelompok itik yang diberi pakan komplit mengandung duckweed 20% dan disajikan dalam bentuk mash kering, P2 adalah kelompok itik yang diberi pakan komplit mengandung duckweed 20% dan disajikan dalam bentuk basah (bubur) dan P3 diberi ransum basal disajikan dalam bentuk mash kering dan duckweed disajikan secara terpisah dalam bentuk segar. Ransum disusun dengan kandungan nutrisi sama. Konsumsi, konversi pakan, dan pigmentasi kuning telur dipengaruhi oleh cara penyajian duckweed. Pemberian Pemberian duckweed segar mempunyai potensi yang baik untuk diterapkan dalam mengurangi biaya pengolahan pakan.
The study was designed to determine the size of some body parts of the Super Kampong chicken and its relationship with body weight. The study was conducted at the Teaching Farm of Animal Science Faculty, University of Mataram, in Lingsar Village, West Lombok. The study used 60 male and 96 female Super Kampong chickens which were maintained intensively. The variables observed were body weight, head circumference, neck length, wing length, back length, chest circumference, chest width, upper and lower thigh length, metatarsus length, metatarsus circumference, and third finger length. Measurements were made for each individual bird at 13 weeks of age using yarn then measured with a tape measure, while the dimension of chest width was assigned by measuring the distance between the right and right sides of the chest using calipers. The results found that the body parts that had the biggest contribution to the body weight of the Super Kampong chickens at 13 weeks old were the size of the lower thigh length in the male chicken and the size of the chest circumference in the female chicken.
