Studies of a boron-containing coating formed on high-entropy alloy specimens by a complex ion-plasma method were carried out. It is shown that the coating has an amorphous-crystalline structure. The size of the areas of the crystalline state of the material is 3-5 nm. Coating hardness, <i>H</i> = 10.1 GPa; Young's modulus, <i>E </i>= 135 GPa; <i>H/E</i> = 0.075; wear parameter, <i>k</i> = 1.2 × 10<sup>-6</sup> mm<sup>3</sup>/N*m; and friction coefficient, μ = 0.15. For an uncoated substrate, <i>H </i>= 2.1 GPa, <i>k</i> = 2.9 × 10<sup>-4</sup> mm<sup>3</sup>/N*m, and μ = 0.62.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
