In 2017, there are 113 million motorcycles in Indonesia or 43% of the total population of 264 million. With this amount, of course there are also many motorcycle communities and/ or motorcycle gangs. Many social and psychological studies have been done and found positive aspects of motorcycle communities and negative aspects of motorcycle gangs. In addition, the previous studies are mostly descriptive in nature and no more interpretive meanings. So, this research aims to explore the meaning of being a member of the motorbike community on campus. This research is a case study involving five participants to answer research questions: What the meaning of the motorcycle community for you? Do you have personal problems? Why? The result consists five themes including intention of gathering, community as a place to avoid problems, community as a place to cope stress, and aspiration of the founder. Psychological perspective and intervention to promote safety riding are discussed.
The development of information and communication technology that support digital data transmission such as text, image, audio and video gives several effects. One of them is data security that becomes the main priority during the transmission process. Pixel-Value-Ordering (PVO) which one of data hiding methods can be implemented to achieve the requirement. It embeds data on maximum pixel and minimum pixel in a blok which is a part of the carrier image. However, PVO has capacity a problem, that only 2 bits per block can be hidden. To handle this problem, we propose a new approach by dividing blocks dinamically based on its complexity. These blocks are grouped into 4: smooth block, semi-smooth block, normal block and rough block. Using this approach, the stego capacity can be improved up to 2.6 times in average of previous method by keeping the quality stego more than 65 dB for all testing image.
Future orientation is a cognitive construct that explains the future orientation of individuals, especially the younger generation, to anticipate general events. Because education is responsible for the foundation of a sustainable future in a society, government and society need to prepare their younger generation through formal education. But this is not the case with the Baduy indigenous people. Although the government provides formal education for every ethnic group in Indonesia, the Baduy community rejects it. The cultural values of the society do not provide space for formal education. Customs prohibit formal education, and customary leaders hand out severe punishment to members who violate the prohibition. Education provided by custom is not formal, but is education for life and work. With this education, the Baduy community can survive and at the same time maintain its cultural values. These cultural values can affect future orientation. However, due to population growth, the available land area for farming is limited. As a result of this situation, Baduy people have pushed themselves to make cultural contact with the outside world. The purpose of this study was to examine variables, namely education for life and work, cultural contact, and cultural values as predictors of the future orientation in Baduy's younger generation. This study involved 169 respondents from Baduy's younger generation aged 11-21 years. With a survey research approach, this study uses dual language questionnaires, namely: An Education for Life and Work Scale to measure education for life and work, a Cultural Contact Scale to measure cultural contact, a Cultural Value Scale to measure cultural values, and a Future Orientation Questionnaire to measure future orientation. Result show that three variables were found to have an influence on future orientation (F = 8.935, p <.001). It can be concluded that education for life and work, cultural contact, and cultural values influence the future orientation of Baduy's younger generation. The theoretical and practical implications of this finding are discussed.
People in the world, including students, in social isolation during the Coronavirus pandemic, must stay at home, separate themselves from others and implement health protocols. As a consequence, university students must learn from home and distance learning online. This study aims to find the link between internet use and loneliness in 620 students in several cities in Java and Sumatra. The results showed the average internet usage was 10 hours per day, and the average nightly sleep was 6.5 hours per day, the average nap or nap was 1.3 hours per day. There is a very significant relationship between loneliness and online activity.
STEGO IMAGE QUALITY ENHANCEMENT ON ADAPTIVE PIXEL BLOCK GROUPING REDUCTION ERROR EXPANSION BY VARYING BLOCK PIXEL GROUPING SCANNING MODELS Abstract
Gated community is a gated residential area its mean as term with a negative connotation related to social segregation. Today there has also been a growing upper class housing that is devoted to Muslims in Jakarta. One of them is Light Islamic Townhouse in East Jakarta. This case study examines the attitude of the out-group resident to the housing, where the out-group resident is the same neighborhood with the resident of the housing (living in the same Rukun Tetangga). With interviewed to 16 participants and did participant observation, the results show that middle class from the outgroup resident consider the existence of the housing as closed, unwilling to blend, and exclusive. While the lower class from the out-group resident considered the existence of the housing to be positive and profitable because of cross subsidies. Practical and theoretical implications are discussed.
