AbstractWater pollution by heavy metals due to discharge from gold mining activity has threatened the aquatic environment and human health of the community around Kao Bay. This report review explores the level of mercury and arsenic in the fish and the health risk of fish consumption within the community around Kao Bay. Fish from 10 spots in the bay were analyzed for mercury and arsenic using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry. Community members around Kao Bay were interviewed for details of their fish consumption. Daily intake of metals and health risk level were also calculated. All of the fish caught contained mercury (mean of 0.2110 ug/g) and arsenic (mean of 0.422 ug/g). This heavy metal concentration exceeds the allowable level for food standard. The human health risk assessment showed that the fish caught from Kao Bay were not safe for human consumption (RQ>1). The hazard risk quotient based on cancer and non-cancer was more than one. As many as 49 of 52 people living around Kao Bay have a risk from mercury and arsenic exposure via fish consumption. The magnitude of HQ and ECR values for most fish indicates that it is not safe for consumption.

The use of plasticizer could improve the flexibility, elasticity and friability of edible films. The characteristics of edible film made from caseinate sodium were influenced by the use of plasticizer types. The differences in material source and molecular weight of plasticizers type various result in the interaction of hydrogen bonds between water-protein-plasticizer molecules and further cause differences in the physical characteristics of edible films. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of plasticizer types (glycerol, sorbitol and polyethylene glycol (PEG)) on the characteristics of edible films. The edible film characteristics observed were color L * (brightness), elongation and thickness. Data were analyzed with complete random design and repeated for three times. The use of plasticizer type affected the edible color value (L *) around 85.62-87.43 (close to white). However, the type of plasticizer did not affect the elongation and thickness of the edible film. The range of elongation and thickness of the edible film with the use of a type of plasticizer was around 15.96-16.22% and an average of about 0.15 mm. The color value of L * (brightness) of edible film using sorbitol plasticizers type was higher than that using glycerol and PEG. The characteristics of edible films using sorbitol plasticizers were better, compared to those using glycerol and PEG.

Program Pengelolaan Penyakit Kronis (PROLANIS) bertujuan mendorong peserta penyandang penyakit kronis (Diabetes Melitus Tipe 2 dan Hipertensi) mencapai kualitas optimal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis penyebab dari ketidakpatuhan peserta BPJS Kesehatan penyandang penyakit Diabetes Melitus tipe 2 dan Hipertensi dalam mengikuti kegiatan PROLANIS di Puskesmas Rangas Kabupaten Mamuju. Jenis penelitian dengan metode kuantitatif dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh peserta BPJS kesehatan yang terindikasi menderita penyakit Diabetes Melitus Tipe 2 dan Hipertensi yang terdaftar pada data bulan Juli – Desember 2016 yaitu 42 penderita Diabates eilitus Tipe 2 dan 136 penderita Hipertensi. Penarikan sampel menggunakan simple random sampling sebanyak 130 responden. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan kuesioner. Uji statistik yang digunakan adalah chi square dan regresi logistik berganda. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa persentase ketidakpatuhan mengikuti kegiatan PROLANIS sebesar 80,8%. Ada hubungan antara pemahaman tentang instruksi (97,6%,p=0,000), kualitas interaksi (97,9%,p=0,000), dukungan keluarga (94,9%,p=0,000), keyakinan (95,1%,p=0,000), sikap (93,2%,p=0,000) dengan ketidakpatuhan mengikuti kegiatan PROLANIS. Hasil analisis multivariat menunjukkan bahwa kualitas interaksi dan sikap merupakan faktor yang paling dominan dalam hubunganya dengan ketidakpatuhan mengikuti kegiatan prolanis.Penelitian ini menyarankan agar penderita penyakit kronis mengikuti kegiatan PROLANIS karena dapat meningkatkan kualitas hidup penderita dan petugas kesehatan lebih aktif memberikan informasi tentang PROLANIS kepada penderita serta mengajak merekauntuk mengikuti kegiatan PROLANIS.

Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a disease that can be transmitted from a sick person to a healthy person through a mosquito bite (vector) Aedes aegypti or Aedes albopictus. Disease caused by the dengue virus is an infectious disease which causes disruption in capillary blood vessels and in the blood clotting system. DHF transmission can be prevented by breaking the chain of transmission by means of vector control through the activities of Mosquito Breeding Eradication (PSN). The aim of this study was to determine the density of Aedes aegypti larvae based on PSN actions in endemic areas in Makassar city. The research was an observational survey with a descriptive approach using questionnaires and through direct observation using observation sheets. The population was all houses in RW 05, RW 06 and RW 08 Gunung Sari village as DHF endemic areas. Determination of the sample was carried out by purposive random sampling method that obtained of 126 houses. The coordinate points of houses were poured on the map using Arc GIS 10.3. The results of this study indicate that the density of Aedes aegypti larvae in DHF endemic areas was low as measured using larva-free rate (ABJ) which was 37.3%, House Index (HI) 62,7%, and Container Index (CI) 32,4%. The PSN actions carried out in the majority DHF endemic areas was 65.9% which was categorized as good. The role of jumantik (Larva monitors) in controlling DHF in endemic areas of DHF has not been implemented optimally.
