Abstractis study was aimed to depict potential eff ects of stable formulation (water in oil emulsion), containing green tea (Camellia sinensis L) extract on skin sebum production in healthy human volunteers. For this purpose formulation was designed using ethanolic green tea extract and Abil®EM was used as an emulsifi er. Formulation was applied to the cheeks of healthy human volunteers (n=) for a period of weeks. Measurements for skin sebum production were considered using Sebumeter MPA . Results were compiled and any eff ect produced by the formulation was justifi ed statistically. It was observable that statistically signifi cant (p < . ) results were found for skin sebum production after long term application of the formulation. formulation of green tea extract was ideal in all aspects and can be experienced in skin disorders like acne to further investigate its eff ects in unhealthy volunteers.
Background: This study aimed to formulate a water-in-oil emulsion (formulation) of Terminalia chebula versus its vehicle (base) as control, and investigate its effects on skin melanin, skin erythema, skin moisture content, and transepidermal water loss (TEWL). Material and Methods: Base containing no active material, and formulation containing 5% concentrated extract of T. chebula, were developed. Different stability parameters were monitored at 8, 25, and 40 °C, as well as 40 °C + 75% relative humidity, for a period of 4 weeks. It was concluded that the creams remained stable at all storage conditions. Both base and formulation were applied to the cheeks of human volunteers for a period of 8 weeks. Different skin parameters were monitored every week to measure any effect produced by these creams. Results: Changes in TEWL produced by base and formulation were insignificant (p > 0.05) with respect to time while significant (p ≤ 0.05) with respect to base and formulation. The skin moisture content increased after the application of formulation throughout the study period; this effect was insignificant (p > 0.05) with respect to time while significant (p ≤ 0.05) with respect to base and formulation. Both base and formulation showed insignificant (p > 0.05) effects on skin melanin content with respect to time. Skin erythema was reduced by the formulation. Both base and formulation produced statistically insignificant (p > 0.05) effects on skin sebum. Conclusion: Both creams were aesthetic with respect to sensory evaluation. T. chebula topical cream showed a positive rejuvenating effect on human skin. Hopefully, this study will encourage more attention towards the research and utilization of herbal medicines.
Groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.) is the world’s third important source of oil. A Genomic Selection Training Population (GSTP) comprising 340 genotypes was evaluated over four locations for two seasons to study genetic variability and association among agronomical and quality traits. GSTP exhibited significant variation among the genotypes, seasons and G x E interaction. Moderate to high magnitude of genotypic coefficient of variation and phenotypic coefficient of variation coupled with high heritability was observed for most quality traits. The first 7 components of PCA analysis contributed more than 75% cumulative variability. The training population grouped into three clusters in both the seasons. The number of pods/plant, pod and seed yield/plant were significantly and positively associated with each other, while test weight had negative association with number of pods/plant and had positive association with pod and seed yield during rainy season of 2015. The significant positive correlation was also observed between oil, linoleic acid and stearic acid; similarly, linoleic acid had positive association with stearic acid and palmitic acid. Significant negative correlation was observed between oil and protein content, oleic acid and linoleic acid content. The superior genotypes, namely, ICG 5221, ICGV 01393, ICGV 07220, ICGV 97120, ICGV 06420, ICG 9507, ICGV 06188 and ICGV 00440 were best performer for yield, yield components and nutritional quality traits while ICG 2381 and ICG 5221 recorded a better performance for oil content. The rainy season was found to have an advantage for vegetative, physiological growth, oil content, oleic and oleic to linoleic ratio while the post-rainy season led to forced pod filling and reduced maturity.
