Bu çalışmanın amacı, Yozgat ilinde küçükbaş hayvan yetiştiriciliği yapan işletmelerin teknik ve yapısal özelliklerini, yetiştiricilerin karşılaştıkları sorunları belirlemek ve bu sorunlara çözüm önerileri sunmaktır. Materyal ve Metot: Çalışmanın materyalini, Yozgat iline bağlı ilçelerde küçükbaş hayvan yetiştiriciliği yapan 200 işletmeden elde edilen anket verileri oluşturmuştur. Çalışmada, işletmelerin genel özellikleri, yapısal durumu, barınak özellikleri, besleme ve yem temini, mevcut hayvan ırkları, sürü yönetimi ve sağlık koruma konularında işletmelerin durumları belirlenmiştir. Bulgular: Çalışmada işletmelerin %11.5'inin 50-100 baş, %44'ünün 101-250 baş, %28'inin 251-500 baş ve %16.5'inin 500 baş ve üzeri hayvan varlığına sahip olduğu belirlenmiştir. Küçükbaş hayvancılık işletmelerinin %68'i damızlık koç ve tekelerini kendi sürülerinden temin etmektedir. Yetiştiricilerin %82.5'inin hayvanlarını 8-10 ay merada bulundurdukları ve işletmelerin yaklaşık%70'inde sağım yapılmadığı, sütün kuzu ve oğlakların beslenmesinde kullanıldığı belirlenmiştir. Sonuç: Yetiştiricilerin pazarlama ve meraların yetersizliği sorunlarının yanı sıra yetiştirme ve sağlık koruma konularında bilgi eksiklikleri söz konusu olup bölgede var olan potansiyel üretime yeteri kadar yansıtılamamaktadır.

Bu çalışma, Kastamonu ili sınırları içinde küçükbaş hayvan yetiştiriciliğine yer veren işletmelerin durumlarının belirlenmesi, mevcut sorunların ve çözüm önerilerinin ortaya konulması amacıyla 63 farklı köyden toplam 80 işletmede anket çalışması uygulanarak yapılmıştır. İşletme sahiplerinin yaş ortalaması 49,3 olup yetiştiricilerin %68,75'i ilkokul, %8,75'i ortaokul mezunu %22,6'sı da okur-yazar değildir. İşletme sahiplerinin %31,25'i kişisel+devlet arazisinde, %68,75'i kişisel+kiraladığı arazilerde yetiştiricilik yapmaktadır. İşletmelerin %70'i Kıl Keçisi, %30'u Tiftik Keçisi ve %55'i Merinos, %42,5'i Karaman, %16,25'i Türkmen Varyetesi, %7,5'i Sakız ve %6,25'i de Kıvırcık ırkı bulundurmaktadır. İşletmelerde ortalama sürü büyüklüğü keçide 77,3 baş ve koyunda 71,7 baştır. Yetiştiricilerin %60'ı hayvanlarını 8-10 ay merada bulundurmakta ve sadece %30'u ek bir yemleme yapmaktadır. İşletmelerin %31,2'sinde doğum bölmesi ve %92,5'inde de yavru büyütme bölmesi mevcuttur. İşletmelerin tamamında koruyucu aşı yaptırılırken, dezenfeksiyon sadece %73,7'sinde yapılmaktadır. Yetiştiricilerin çoğunluğunun küçükbaş hayvan yetiştiriciliğini tercih etme sebebi geçime katkı+alışkanlık şeklindedir ve dolayısıyla sürü büyüklükleri de düşüktür (74,5 baş). Sonuç olarak Kastamonu ilinde genç nüfus küçükbaş hayvan yetiştiriciliğine teşvik edilerek, yetiştiricilere teknik, ekonomik destekler sağlanmalı ve yetiştiricilik konusunda eğitici seminerler verilmelidir. Tek geçim kaynağı olarak ve daha büyük sürüler şeklinde yapılacak bir yetiştiricilik ile gelecekte küçükbaş hayvan yetiştiriciliği daha fazla gelişme gösterebilir. This study was conducted by using a survey made at 80 enterprises from 63 villages with the aim of determining situations, problems and solution proposals related to the sheep and goat farms in Kastamonu province. The average age of the farmers was 49.3 years. The farmers were 8.75% of primary school graduates, 68.75% of secondary school and also 22.6% of illiterate. The enterprises have raised animals as 31.75% of state + own land and 68.75%' of private + leased land. Also they are kept the rate of 70% Hair goat, 30% Angora goat and 55% Merino sheep, 42.5% Akkaraman sheep, and 16.25% Turkmen genotype, 7.5% Sakız sheep and 6.25% of Kıvırcık Sheep. The average flock sizes goat and sheep enterprises were 77.3 head goats and 71.7 heads sheep, respectively. Sixty percent of the breeder feed their animals on the pasture for 8-10 months and only 30% the breeders give supplementary feeding before and during mating period. The enterprises have 31.2% parturition chamber and 92.5% lamb growth areas. While all enterprises are routinely used to protective vaccines but only used disinfectant of 73.7% enterprises. The reason of sheep and goat breeders is majority contributions of income and habits. So, flock sizes are small (74.5 heads animal). Amaç: Bu çalışma yetiştirici koşullarında Akkaraman ırkı koyunlarda döl verimi, kuzularda büyüme ve yaşama gücü özelliklerini incelemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Materyal ve Yöntem: Araştırmanın hayvan materyalini 460 baş Akkaraman koyunu ve 537 baş kuzu oluşturmuştur. Koyunların döl verim özelliklerinin belirlenmesi amacıyla doğum, tekiz doğum, ikiz doğum, bir doğumdaki kuzu sayısı ve kuzuların büyüme özelliklerinin belirlenmesi için doğum ağırlığı, 60, 90, 120 ve 150. gün canlı ağırlığına ait veriler kullanılmıştır. Araştırma Bulguları: Koyunlara ait döl verim özelliklerinden kuzulama oranı %95.8; ikiz doğum oranı %21.8 ve doğuran koyun başına düşen kuzu sayısı 1.22 olarak hesaplanmıştır. Akkaraman kuzularına ait doğum ağırlığı 3.71 kg iken 60., 90., 120. ve 150. gün canlı ağırlığı sırası ile 15.54 kg, 23.30 kg, 31.08 kg ve 38.85 kg olarak tespit edilmiştir. Çalışmada elde edilen yaşama gücü değerleri 60, 90, 120 ve 150. günde sırası ile %97.6, %96.3, %94.8 ve %94.4 olarak hesaplanmıştır. Sonuç: Sonuç olarak yetiştirici koşullarında Akkaraman ırkı koyunlardan elde edilen döl verimi ve kuzuların bazı büyüme özellikleri literatürde bildirilen değerler ile uyum içerisinde olduğu görülmüştür.

Abstract. In this study, meat quality traits and fatty acid compositions of Hair Goat and Saanen × Hair Goat (G1) crossbred kids fattened under intensive, semi-intensive and extensive conditions were determined. For meat quality traits, differences in pH24 h, pH45 min, drip loss, water holding capacity, cooking loss and Warner–Bratzler peak shear force values of the experimental groups were not found to be significant. According to colour measurements at the 0th and 45th minute, the extensive fattening group of Hair Goat kids had greater lightness (L∗) values and the intensive fattening group of Hair Goat kids had greater redness (a∗) values. For intensive, semi-intensive and extensive fattening groups of Hair Goat kids, total saturated fatty acid contents of longissimus dorsi (LD) muscle samples were respectively measured as 19.28 %, 23.75 % and 23.35 %. Total monounsaturated fatty acid contents were respectively measured as 67.30 %, 66.22 % and 65.72 %. Total polyunsaturated fatty acid contents were respectively measured as 5.46 %, 3.06 % and 3.16 % and conjugate linoleic acid contents were respectively measured as 0.48 %, 0.55 % and 0.65 %. For intensive, semi-intensive and extensive fattening groups of Saanen × Hair Goat (G1) kids, total saturated fatty acid contents of LD muscle samples were respectively measured as 21.01 %; 21.98 %, 19.10 %; total monounsaturated fatty acid contents were respectively measured as 64.04 %, 64.33 %, 52.44 %. Total polyunsaturated fatty acid contents were respectively measured as 3.53 %, 4.89 % and 4.84 % and conjugate linoleic acid contents were respectively measured as 0.52 %, 0.58 % and 0.73 %. It was concluded that the extensive fattening group had greater conjugated linoleic acid contents than the other fattening groups.

Climate change is seen as a significant threat to the sustainability of many species, ecosystems and livestock production systems in many parts of the world. With the rise of average temperatures at the global level, a number of effects occur. These effects lead to different changes in climate, regionally and globally. Livestock sector in Turkey is the leading sector that is most affected by the global climate change due to the predomination of rural economic structure and industries based on developing livestock breeding. Health and welfare in animal production are an integral part of environmental sustainability. Extreme events and seasonal fluctuations affect the welfare of the animals and cause a decline in yield and reproductive performance. Sheep and goat are animals that can make the best use of pasture and use it in every season of the year. In addition to the effects of climate change on ecosystems, it is inevitable that it will create important problems on the natural resources that form the basis of animal production. Climatic characteristics such as temperature and precipitation patterns have a significant impact on the availability of pasture and other resources throughout the year of animals. In this study, it was aimed to reveal the effects of climate change on animal husbandry and especially on sheep and goat breeding.

Abstract. The objective of this study was to determine meat quality characteristics, fatty acid profiles, and sensory characteristics of 50 single-birth male lambs from five breeds: Artlı (n=10), Çepni (n=10), Hemşin (n=10), Karayaka (n=10), and Of (n=10). At the beginning of the experiment, the average age and weight of the lambs were 120 ± 5 d and 30.7 ± 0.68 kg respectively. After 60 d of intensive fattening, the average live weight before slaughter was 40.96 kg ± 0.76 kg. All evaluations were performed on samples from the longissimus thoracis et lumborum (LTL) muscle. There was no difference between breeds in terms of the pH values of the hot carcasses, whereas the cold carcass pH values were higher (P<0.001) in Hemşin animals than in the other breeds. Meat chemical properties (such as organic matter; dry matter; and fat, measured as the ether extract), physical properties (such as cooking loss; drip loss; and water-holding capacity, WHC), and instrumental values (such as colour, L* and b* values, chewiness, hardness, and resilience) were significantly affected by breed differences. Additionally, the differences between breeds were found to be significant in terms of the fatty acid composition and the evaluation of organoleptic properties, such as sensory characteristics, flavour, and juiciness of cooked (boiled or roasted) meat. The results show that lamb meat's physical, chemical, and sensory properties vary by breed. The differences found in the composition and presence of meat fatty acids between and within breeds can be used as a source of variation for future genetic improvement strategies.

In the study, the contents of tail fat fatty acid composition of 6-month-old male lambs in the breeds of Artlı, Çepni, Karayaka and Of grown in the Black Sea Region were examined. The content of saturated fatty acids in tail fat for the breeds of Artlı, Çepni, Karayaka and Of were respectively; 52.08%, 51.66%, 42.67%, 52.92% while the monounsaturated fatty acid contents were 33.25%, 33.12%, 33.07%, 32.34% respectively. The content of polyunsaturated fatty acids was determined as 0.76%, 1.20%, 0.64% and 0.87%, respectively. The presence of fatty acids desired for health was determined as 46.94% in Artlı, 51.03% in Çepni, 51.51% in Karayaka and 49.51% in the breeds of Of. In terms of polyunsaturated fatty acids in the composition of fatty acids, the highest rate was found in the Çepni breeds and the lowest in the Karayaka breeds. Sağlık açısından olması istenen yağ asitleri Artlı ırkı kuzularda %46.94, Çepni ırkı kuzularda %51.03, Karayaka ırkı kuzularda %51.51 ve Of ırkı kuzularda %49.51 olarak belirlenmiştir. Çoklu doymamış yağ asitleri bakımından en yüksek oran Çepni ırkında ve en düşük oran ise Karayaka ırkında tespit edilmiştir. Yağ asitleri içeriğinin ırklar arasında önemli farklılıklar taşıdığı saptanmıştır.

This research was carried out to investigate the fattening performance and slaughter and carcass characteristics of Hair goat and Saanen × Hair goat (G1) crossbred kids in different fattening systems. Thirty Hair goats and 30 Saanen × Hair goat (G1) crossbred singleton male kids 2.5-3 months old and weaned were used. The kids were fattened in three different systems: intensive, semi-intensive, and extensive. Marginal value analysis was applied to determine the optimum feeding periods of the kids. In order to determine the slaughter and carcass characteristics, all the kids fattened were taken to slaughter after determining their live weight at the end of the fattening. Live weight gains after the intensive, semi-intensive, and extensive fattening were 17.83 kg, 19.39 kg, and 18.29 kg in the Hair goat kids and 17.88 kg, 18.24 kg, and 17.32 kg in the Saanen × Hair goat (G1) crossbred kids, respectively. In the same order, the average concentrate feed consumed by kids for 1 kg live weight gain was 7.55 kg, 7.28 kg, 7.00 kg and 7.07 kg. Hot carcass weights after the intensive, semi-intensive, and extensive fattening were 13.58, 14.06, and 13.02 kg in the Hair goat kids and 14.21, 15.03, and 14.06 kg in the Saanen × Hair goat (G1) crossbred kids. The Saanen × Hair goat (G1) crossbred goats increased more in live weight than the Hair goat kids and the semi-intensive fattened goats increased more in live weight than the intensive and extensive fed goats. Moreover, the optimum fattening times generally varied between the groups, but not between genotypes within the group.
