A clear understanding of the concept of maternal sensitivity could be useful for developing ways to enhance maternal sensitivity and to maximize the developmental potential of infants. Knowledge of the attributes of maternal sensitivity identified in this concept analysis may be helpful for constructing measuring items or dimensions.
This study was conducted to clarify and conceptualize the phenomenon of coping with arthritic pain by older adults. The Hybrid Model of concept development was applied to develop a conceptual structure of coping with arthritic pain by older adults. A refined definition of coping with arthritic pain by older adults emerged that identified the attributes and structure of the concept. This study reveals the characteristics of the ways that older adults cope with arthritic pain, such as how they experience themselves, how pain affects their daily life, and how they perceive the meaning of coping with arthritic pain. These characteristics indicate the complexity of the concept regarding the coping of older adults with arthritic pain. This area needs to be clarified when nursing staff assess coping with pain and plan pain management for older adults.
Nurses are the most important health care personnel for medication safety. A scale to measure nurse medication competency, such as the Medication Safety Competence Scale (MSCS), would move research forward. Preliminary items were developed through a literature review and in-depth interviews. Content validity was established by ten experts. Nurses (n = 607) participated in a survey to evaluate the validity and reliability of the scale. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses and correlation analyses were conducted to assess construct, concurrent, and criterion validity. The 36 items and 6 factors were derived with the exploratory factor analysis, which accounted for 63.2% of the variance. The confirmatory factor analysis revealed that the hypothesized factor structure was a good fit. Criterion and discriminant validity were present. The internal consistency of the MSCS was .97, and the test-retest reliability was .78. The MSCS is a valid and reliable instrument to measure nurses’ medication safety competence.
Developing stage specific smoking intervention methods based on different ways of how individuals make a decision to quit smoking within their contexts needs to be done.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
