EARTHQUAKE SOURCE MODELING OF NORTH SULAWESI REGION AS AN EFFORT OF EARTHQUAKE DISASTER MITIGATION ABSTRACT Earthquake source modeling of North Sulawesi region was carried out. The earthquake source modeling using the theory of total probability is one of the mitigation efforts in knowing the magnitude of the acceleration of the ground motion caused by an earthquake. Analysis of the calculation of the maximum ground acceleration at bedrock includes the probability of exceedance 10% in 50 years. The results of the earthquake source modeling analysis has been done found that the ground acceleration values in some major cities in North Sulawesi is quite high. The maximum ground acceleration value of the highest is the of Gorontalo City with a value of about 0.5 g acceleration was followed by the Bitung City of 0.4 g, and the Manado City of 0.25 g. Keywords: modeling, earthquake source, probability, accelearation, bedrock
Eruption of Mount Lokon has the potential to cause danger to the community. The study of the ionospheric disturbances triggered by Lokon activity is very important to determine eruptive behavior. TEC anomaly before eruption is succesfully detected using correlation methods. Based on GPS TEC data from the GNSS satellite it was concluded that the TEC anomaly occurred three days before the eruption on July 14th, 2011. Using leveling method and polynomial technique, eruption effects on ionosphere were be determined. Eruption on July 2011 caused ionospheric disturbance. These results will be important considerations in decision making related to disaster mitigation
A simulation of tsunami wave transmission in Sofifi – Tidore archipelago, North Maluku has been done to know the arrival time and the height of tsunami wave that hits the coast if an earthquake that followed by tsunami reoccurs. The simulation is carried out using software WinITDB by inputting the coordinate of tsunami source, coordinate of the region that will be hit by the tsunami, the length and the width of the fracture, and the seafloor deformation from the data of earthquakes that ever triggered tsunamis. The result shows that Sofifi region is classified as fairly-dangerous with tsunami waveheight of 0,5m ≤ H ≤ 1,5m and minimum time lapse for the tsunami wave to reach the coast is 36 minutes.
Hasil yang didapatkan menunjukkan bahwa, ketinggian gelombang yang dapat menerjang Tahuna adalah 0,23 m dengan waktu tiba sekitar menit ke-50Indonesia is one of the area that prone to disaster like earthquake and tsunami. The area with high risk for earthquake and tsunami to occur is located ini Sulawesi Sea where there have a North Sulawesi Subduction Zone. One way to mitigating tsunami is to simulate the height and arrival time of tsunami wave. Because of its position located in Sulawesi Sea, Tahuna City is very likely to struck by tsunami. The modelling of tsunami wave using TUNAMI-N2 software. The result yield the height of tsunami that could struck Tahuna City is 0,23 m with arrival time around 50 minutes
