This work investigates the contributions of the MES -ManufacturingExecution System -for improving the competitive priorities of manufacturing. We present a theoretical framework on the information technologies (IT) and its business importance, the contributions of the organizational factors for the implementation of the MES, as well as the main concepts and the possible applications of this tool. The built theoretical framework was decisive to subsidize the research performance in the studied company. It was verified that the MES significantly contributed to the manufacturing related to improvement of cost, quality, flexibility, conformity and reliability. It was concluded that the MES enriched the information quality generated from the plant floor, i.e., information that makes it fast, standardized, reliable and precise. When integrated to the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) of the company, the MES filled out a gap, offering information IJM&P [http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/us/] Licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 United States Licenseother to other functional areas of the organization. The interviews, conducted in businesses departments in the company, showed the importance of the products tracking, and the MES implementation was decisive to improve that issue, concluding that the dimension is considered as a competitive priority of the manufacturing.

Este estudo de caso único buscou verificar como a gestão de riscos de segurança da informação se apresenta numa instituição pública federal conforme a percepção dos gestores de Tecnologia da Informação (T.I.) e os resultados encontrados demonstram a importância dos papéis desempenhados pelas pessoas, as responsabilidades, o desenvolvimento de políticas, normas, procedimentos e implementação destes visando maior controle dos riscos e também das diversas oportunidades que envolvem a segurança de tecnologia da informação.As instituições públicas vinculadas ao setor público federal brasileiro devem aplicar uma série de medidas de segurança, políticas, procedimentos e diretrizes como medidas de proteção de seus ativos de informação. O presente artigo pretende examinar alguns conceitos existentes e consagrados bem como a validade e a importância do planejamento portuário, pois a experiência internacional mostra que o mesmo nem sempre tem atendido as expectativas dos seus múltiplos usuários. Pretende-se, neste artigo, identificar alguns dos problemas portuários que envolvem o processo do planejamento e apoio na solução dos obstáculos que existiram no passado rumo à competição presente. Trata-se de um estudo exploratório visando analisar os diversos modelos de gestão adotados pelas autoridades portuárias conforme as categorias de porto de serviço, instrumento, locador e totalmente privatizado destacando os portos europeus identificando as vantagens e desvantagens dos respectivos modelos de autoridade portuária.
The objective of this research is to analyze and provide economic bases for the use of wind energy, replacing the thermals plants in process of cost reduction, their positive impact on the economy and the environment. The energy obtained through the force of the winds is one of the oldest of the energies known and used by man. This conception of energy production was again evaluated and tested more objectively after the 1980s, especially in the USA and Europe with strong support from ERDA-Energy Research and Development Administration in the development of special turbines to capture energy from the winds and make it economically viable and sustainable. Experiments show that the use of wind energy as an economically and ecologically correct alternative for use in small and large power plants and reduce climate change.) The main proposal of this research is to examine the existing literature on quality management systems and food safety management systems, and group, sort and prioritize the critical success factors that affect these systems in a global context, to help researchers and food industry managers in decision making and prioritization of actions in research and projects related to the topic. We conducted a quali-quantitative research based on a review of published papers about the subject in the last 23 years. The data were treated statistically, grouped and analyzed by the Nihans classification technique. The result led to the selection and prioritization of 14 critical factors of success for quality and food safety management systems.
