Objective: To investigate the functional capacity and its relationship with the level of social support to people affected by cerebrovascular accident. Methods: Cross-sectional and quantitative research, conducted with 108 individuals with sequelae of cerebrovascular accident in João Pessoa/PB. Data were collected through interviews, using a sociodemographic instrument – the Barthel Index and the Social Support Scale. Results: We observed the prevalence of functional dependency in 93.5%, and the mild dependency stood out in 40.7%. Medium social support was the most found, with 48.2%. The predominant dimensions of social support were the material dimension, followed by the emotional. There was a significant association (p ≤ 0.05) between very serious dependency and high social support. Conclusion: The results found allow us to reflect on the need for involvement of health professionals in strengthening the social support of patients with disabling diseases, such as the cerebrovascular accident.

Resultados: a qualidade de vida resultou, para ambos os sexos, em um pior escore médio para o domínio "Físico" e um melhor escore para o domínio "Relações Sociais". A hemodiálise interfere consideravelmente na qualidade de vida, principalmente nas atividades básicas de vida diária. Conclusão: a média total da qualidade de vida de pessoas que realizam hemodiálise foi maior entre os homens.
Objetivo: analisar o perfil sociodemográfico, as condições de saúde e as características do trabalho de enfermeiros. Métodos: estudo transversal, realizado com 152 enfermeiros de um hospital universitário. Utilizou-se de instrumento estruturado, o qual foi analisado por estatística descritiva. Resultados: os enfermeiros consideraram a saúde como boa (50,7%), realizavam atividade física (53,3%), não fumavam (92,8%), não consumiam álcool (56,6%), apresentavam algum problema de saúde (63,2%) e utilizam medicamentos diariamente (54,6%). Observou-se maior quantitativo de profissionais do ambulatório (17,8%) e clínica médica (15,8%), que atuavam no hospital estudado por até cinco anos (61,2%), celetistas (74,3%), sem outro vínculo empregatício (54,6%), do turno diurno (56,6%), com escala de seis horas (36,2%), que referiram ausência do trabalho por até cinco dias (38,2%), devido a problemas de saúde (41,4%). Conclusão: percebeu-se presença de processos de adoecimento entre os profissionais, os quais podem interferir na qualidade e segurança do cuidado prestado.
Objective to correlate health-related quality of life and adherence to treatment of patients with breast and prostate cancer. Method an exploratory, descriptive and cross-sectional study, with a quantitative approach, conducted with 305 patients with breast and prostate cancer, in a state oncology hospital in Paraíba, Brazil, between June and November 2019. For data collection, a semi-structured instrument was used to obtain data regarding the sociodemographic and clinical profile, from the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire “core” 30 items, from the specific module Quality of Life Questionnaire-Breast Cancer, and from the Adherence Determinants Questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results the correlation between health-related quality of life and adherence of patients with prostate cancer showed statistical significance (p≤0.05) between the Global health Scale and the Functional Scale, Intentions domain; emotional function and intentions; insomnia and subjective norms; financial difficulty and subjective norms. In women, there was statistical significance (p≤0.05) between role performance and subjective norms; fatigue and intentions; financial difficulty and total adherence; sexual desire, sexual satisfaction and perceived support/severity; breast symptoms and intentions. Conclusion health-related quality of life directly impacts on treatment adherence of patients with breast and prostate cancer.
Objective: To analyze the self-care activities of elderly people with diabetes mellitus and its correlation with the nurse-patient interpersonal relationship. Methods: Cross-sectional quantitative study, with 144 elderly people followed up in Family Health Units, with data collected by the Diabetes Self-Care Activities Questionnaire and Interpersonal Relationship Questionnaire in Nursing Care, being analyzed by descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: There was a greater accomplishment of the activities Take insulin injections as recommended (6.74), Take diabetes medications as recommended (6.55) and Take the indicated number of diabetes pills (6.52). The interpersonal relationship showed moderate effectiveness (80.6%). The correlation between self-care with diabetes and interpersonal relationships showed a positive and significant value in the dimension Specific feeding. Conclusion: The effectiveness of the interpersonal relationship in nursing care resulted in greater compliance with activities related to specific food.

ResumoObjetivo: Realizar a validação semântica e de conteúdo da Bakas Caregiving Outcome Scale para o português do Brasil.Métodos: Trata-se de um estudo metodológico, em que se realizou a adaptação transcultural segundo recomendações internacionais, a validação de conteúdo por meio de um comitê de juízes. Após essas etapas, o instrumento foi aplicado em 151 cuidadores informais de pessoas com sequela de acidente vascular encefálico, cadastrados em Unidades de Saúde da Família de João Pessoa, entre os meses de setembro e dezembro de 2017. Foi verifi cado a consistência interna pelo alfa de Cronbach.Resultados: Mediante avaliação de comitê de juízes e realização do pré-teste, foi alcançada a validação de conteúdo e semântica, obtendo-se um índice de Kappa superior a 0,80. O alfa de Cronbach geral foi de 0,89.Conclusão: O instrumento adaptado e validado para o português do Brasil mostrou-se confi ável para ser aplicado na avaliação da sobrecarga de cuidadores de pacientes com sequela de acidente vascular encefálico.
Objective: to evaluate the functional capacity and the risk of falls in elderly people. Methods: cross-sectional study with 122 elderly subjects. Data collection was done through an interview with aid of the instruments Fall Risck Score and Functional Independence Measure. The Pearson's Chi-square test and Fisher's exact test were used to analyze the data for association of variables. Results: a total of 72.1% of elderly had already suffered a fall and 96.7% had a Functional Independence Measure greater than 104, being functionally independent. Conclusion: the elderly presented complete independence in most of the items related to daily life activities; however, they are at risk of falls related to other factors, such as possible previous history of this event. According to the Functional Independence Measure, the main points of dependence are directly related to poor social conditions. Objetivo: avaliar a capacidade funcional e o risco de quedas em pessoas idosas. Métodos: pesquisa transversal com 122 idosos. A coleta de dados ocorreu por meio de entrevista com os instrumentos Fall Risck Score e Medida de Independência Funcional. Para análise dos dados foram utilizados os testes Qui-quadrado de Pearson e Exato de Fisher para associação das variáveis. Resultados: 72,1% dos idosos já sofreram alguma queda e 96,7% apresentaram Medida de Independência Funcional superior a 104, sendo independentes funcionalmente. Conclusão: os idosos apresentaram independência completa na maioria dos itens referentes às atividades de vida diária, no entanto, possuem risco de quedas relacionado a outros fatores, como possível histórico anterior deste evento. De acordo com a Medida de Independência Funcional, os principais pontos de dependência estão relacionados diretamente às más condições sociais. Objective: to associate anxiety, depression and stress with sociodemographic characteristics, lifestyle, health status and data on the provision of care in caregivers of cerebrovascular accident survivors. Method: cross-sectional study conducted with 151 informal primary caregivers in João Pessoa, Paraíba, Brazil. A semi-structured instrument and the Anxiety, Depression and Stress-21 Scale were used, and the data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: caregivers with more years of study had a higher mean of stress. Those who always felt tired had higher means for anxiety, depression and stress, as did those who mentioned their health status as poor and those who devoted more than 10 hours a week to care. Participants who did not practice leisure activities had higher means of depression and stress, those who helped with medication were related to a higher average of anxiety and those who helped with mobility reported higher means of depression and stress. Conclusions: it was observed that the levels of anxiety, depression and stress were influenced by some personal characteristics, life habits, health situation and characteristics of the care provided to the family member who suffered a cerebrovascular accident.
