Ammoniumbetain 5 bzw. 33. Reactions of Cation-substituted Ketene Heterogeminals with Nucleophilic and Electrophilic AgentsKetene N,S-and S,S-acetals bearing sulfonium and methoxycarbonyl (13, 14) or amidinium substituents (21.22) undergo nucleophilic displacement of a mercaptide group with malononitrile anions to form the ylide derivatives 15 and 16 or butadiene type products 23 and 24, respectively. Reactions of the sulfonium-and ammonium-substituted ketene aminals 25 and 26 with acetyl chloride afford acetylation products of type 27 and 28. As a CH-acidic reagent malononitrile is shown to react with sulfonio or ammonio ketene N,S-acetals of type 29 and 30 under formation of dicyanomethylene derivatives 31 and 32 which subsequently are converted into the sulfonium or ammonium betaine 5 and 33, respectively.

Ketene Mercaptals Bearing Cationie Substituents1,3-Dithiolylium bis(tetrafluorob0rates) connected in position 2 to a methylene group which is bonded to a sulfonium, ammonium, amidinium, or (methy1thio)methyleniminium substituent, are synthesized by various pathways. Their deprotonation affords the corresponding 1,2-dithiol-2-ylidenesulfonium, -ammonium, -amidinium, or -thioimidium acid ester tetrafluoroborates 4,7, I t , 16, and 18. First links in this series are the ketene mercaptals 24 and 29 which are substituted by a sulfonium or amidinium group, and are accessible by other pathways.h n l i c h wie die kiirzlich beschriebenen Keten-N,O-, -N,S-und -N,N-acetale rnit kationischen Substituenten ') wurden auch die entsprechenden Mercaptale bisher nicht untersucht. 500.
