En el marco de los estudios sobre organización, existen diferentes enfoques que explican el origen de sus recursos y ventajas competitivas. En el presente artículo de carácter teórico, se abordan dos: recursos y capacidades y dependencia de recursos. Así, se lleva a cabo una revisión bibliográfica con el propósito de plantear un modelo teórico integrado combina ambos enfoques y enfatiza su complementariedad y una serie de proposiciones. Estas últimas vinculan el proceso de toma de decisiones para adquirir los recursos necesarios y los factores asociados con la visión directiva y la racionalidad limitada del individuo. Como conclusión más relevante se plantea que la toma de decisiones sobre la adquisición de recursos para la organización no solo depende de procesos racionales orientados por principios administrativos y limitados por la capacidad de aprendizaje y análisis del individuo, sino que también están guiados por la visión del gerente, la cual se expresa a través de su acción voluntaria, subjetiva y discrecional en cuanto a la manera como debe ser organizada y dirigida la empresa.
La presente investigación, de naturaleza teórico-descriptiva, tiene como objetivo estudiar y analizar los sesgos cognitivos bajo la perspectiva de la toma de decisiones gerenciales. El tema se aborda a partir de una revisión bibliográfica de los principales postulados de la psicología cognitiva, comenzando con los aportes de March y Simon, quienes son reconocidos como los autores seminales de esta perspectiva teórica, y continuando con diferentes autores que la han estudiado y aplicado dentro del marco de las organizaciones, formando así la escuela cognitiva de la organización. En el transcurso del trabajo se desarrolla la relación entre los sesgos cognitivos y el proceso de percepción gerencial, para luego ofrecer un conjunto de contribuciones de la literatura que muestra aspectos vinculados con su medición, sus implicaciones y sus aplicaciones. Producto de esta revisión, se destaca, a modo de conclusión, el gran potencial que tienen los procesos y los sesgos cognitivos para entender y explicar el comportamiento de la gerencia y los líderes de la organización frente a situaciones de alta complejidad, que tienen efectos muy importantes en su desempeño.
El presente artículo tiene como objetivo llevar a cabo una revisión de la literatura sobre uno de los constructos más relevantes en el estudio del comportamiento de las organizaciones que surge inicialmente a partir del trabajo de Cohen & Levinthal (1990). El mismo se refiere a la capacidad de absorción que ha tenido una amplia aplicación en distintos campos de estudios de la organización, tales como: aprendizaje y gestión del conocimiento, procesos de innovación y desarrollo tecnológico, administración estratégica, dirección de recursos humanos, diseño organizativo, entre otros. La investigación, abordada bajo un enfoque metodológico de tipo descriptivo y con diseño documental, pretende avanzar en la integración y comprensión de este constructo a través de la identificación y discusión de diferentes aspectos referidos a su origen, componentes, determinantes, su relación con la cognición del individuo y la importancia que tiene para el desarrollo, el desempeño y el logro de ventajas competitivas, proporcionando así una visión general para su gestión y aplicación. Como resultado de la investigación se ofrece un modelo de los factores que definen la capacidad de absorción de la organización, alrededor de tres niveles principales: organizacional, del entorno y cognitivo, destacándose este último como un factor diferenciador de los modelos que tradicionalmente han sido desarrollados por la literatura.
Este artículo de naturaleza teórica, tiene como propósito analizar una de las teorías que ha tenido mayor impacto en el estudio y comprensión del desarrollo, diseño y cambio de la organización, como lo es la teoría contingente, cuyos inicios se remontan a la década del 60 del siglo XX. Esta teoría ha sido utilizada por una gran cantidad de investigaciones como enfoque teórico de referencia, partiendo de la primacía de que no existe una mejor forma de organización, sino que la más apropiada depende de la naturaleza de factores contextuales internos y externos y de su ajuste con las variables de la organización, situación que, a su vez, determinará su desempeño y resultados. Se considera entonces a los factores contingentes como una fuente directa del cambio organizacional y de la forma organizativa que se adopte. De este modo, para lograr el objetivo de este trabajo se aborda estudio de su origen, características y sus implicaciones y, finalmente, se propone un modelo teórico denominado: Modelo determinista-contingente de la organización.
El presente trabajo tiene como propósito realizar una revisión de la literatura a fin de integrar planteamientos provenientes de dos corrientes del pensamiento de la teoría de la organización en un modelo de capacidades dinámicas. Por una parte, la perspectiva teórica de capacidades dinámicas que trata de explicar las respuestas estratégicas de la empresa frente a los requerimientos de un entorno cambiante y competitivo mediante la renovación, la integración y la reconfiguración de sus recursos y capacidades. Y por otra parte, la escuela cognitiva de la organización que estudia los procesos mentales de los gerentes y directivos vinculados con las actividades de toma de decisiones. Ambas corrientes, han sido abordadas de manera muy importante por la comunidad académica-científica dentro del ámbito de las organizaciones, de cuyas revisiones y reflexiones surge como resultado en este trabajo un modelo y una proposición general que plantea la relación entre la cognición de quienes dirigen a la organización y sus capacidades dinámicas.
