RESUMO: Este trabalho tem como objetivo realizar um estudo de viabilidade para um projeto de fundações para a futura construção das instalações militares do 58º Batalhão de Infantaria Mecanizada em Sinop (MT). A formação da região constitui-se de solos colapsíveis que representam um alto risco de engenharia. Para que tais riscos e viabilidades sejam levantados, ensaios de sondagem a percussão foram realizados até uma profundidade de 30 m, determinando parâmetros de suporte de carga. Os perfis de sondagem revelaram uma areia fofa nos primeiros metros de furo, lâmina d'água afastada, e baixo valor de NSPT, da ordem de 5 golpes até 15 m. Após a análise do potencial de colapsividade do solo, do tipo de fundação adequada e das características do terreno, as conclusões do dimensionamento indicaram que a adoção de estacas raiz era insuficiente para o carregamento. Da mesma forma, estacas hélice e escavada de pequeno diâmetro exigiram cotas de assentamento maiores para responder a carregamentos dessa magnitude, e estariam sujeitas a uma perda de carga maior por inundação. Por outro lado, as de grande diâmetro apresentaram suportes de carga exagerados e profundidades muito superficiais. Por fim, conclui-se que a adoção de estacas hélice de diâmetros de 50 cm seria a melhor solução ao fornecer suporte de carga condizente, menor consumo de concreto, além da facilidade de sua produção no canteiro de obras.
