Der fltissige Zustand ist einerseits wie vor allem J. D. v a n d e r W a a 1 s uns gelehrt hat als ein Gas von groi3er Konzentration zu betrachten;das Gesetz der Ubereinstimmenden Zustande gilt mit guter Annlherung auch fllr die Fllissigkeiten. Andererwits bestehtwie wir jetzt gesehen habendarin doch noch eine ziemlich weitgehende gitter-iiHnliche Anordnung der Molekale. Es ist also nicht ohne weitereswie die alte Vorstellung von v a n d.e r W a a 1 s I-ehrteder Flussigkeitszustand im Wesen der glelche wie der verdiinnte gasf6rmige Zustand, sondern der Flussigkeitszustand ist eben dadurch charakterisiert, da!3 in ihm das Prinzip des Aufbaues eines verdiidnt-gmf6rmigen und eines kristallinischen K6rpers sich tiberlagern. Sobald ein Qas auf ein &hr kleiaea Volumen konzentriert wirdbei z. B. fO00 Atm. Druck wilre Hhnliches zu erwmten -, wird eben Bine solche Anordnuog in Gruppen paralleler oder gitterahnlich geordneter Molekale auftreten. B. bei den Flussigkeiten weit unter ihrer kritischen Temperatur. Welche Rolle die Kristallisations-Artifte daneben spielen, istwie schon oben gesagtnoch niiher zu untersuchen. Diese neue Vorstellung vom Bau der Fliissigkeiten wird sich auf vielen Gebieten aus-8 0 ) Ich kann also S t e w a r t u.
