ABSTRACTThe June 25 of 2005 exceptional rainfall event that affect the Concepcion metropolitan area is analyzed, considering the flooding and mass remotions processes triggered and their impact on citizens. The subjects were identify the main risk areas and contribute to prepare natural disasters management plans. For the characterization of this rainfall event intensity data for 24 hours, and for 60, 30 and 10 minutes were calculated from the 1971-1999 pluvial registers. Also a review of the natural processes with negative impact on citizens was realized including localization, terrain evaluation and comparison with the Mardones et al (1994) hazards chart. The impacts on citizens, the emergency attendance costs and the evaluation of the disaster management were estimated by interviews, inquiries and statistics compiled 2 Una contribucion al estudio de los desastres naturales en Chile Centro Sur by the OREMI (Regional Emergency Bureau), the county authorities, the civil protection responsible and the neighborhood. The disaster situation was triggered by a unique and continuous rainfall event that registers 158mml24 hours intensity at Concepcion city, leaving 5224 injured persons, 36 darnaged houses and 5 persons dead. Was observed that rainfall over 150 mm in 24 hours has the sufficient capacity to unchain catastrophes and produce destructive effects. For these events, the statistical analysis shows 5...

SUMMARYDespite the fact that nowadays the use of osseointegrated implants is increasing worldwide nevertheless removable partial dentures with cast metal frameworks is still the most indicated treatment for cases of partial edentulism. However, patients remain reluctant regarding the aesthetic impairment brought by some of the removable partial dentures' components. Therefore we propose to apply to removable partial dentures some of the frictional retention's principles used in fixed prostheses, preparing instead of conventional guiding planes in some abutment teeth, a more wide and extensive platform what we so-called "frictional retentive facets". Accordingly we can afford to provide enough retention to our removable devices without exposing unaesthetic components such as vestibular retentive arms. Five clinical cases will be shown in order to sustain our proposal keeping in mind the need of respecting the right indication.
Background: Self-regulation is a complex capacity that favors the modification of behavior in accordance with environmental demands. Objective: This article aims to review the scientific literature that conceptualizes self-regulation, analyze its potential latent dimensions, identify the instruments used to measure this construct and the empirical findings associated with its neurobiological correlates. Methods: A systematic review of the scientific literature published between 2015 and 2020. We include 29 empirical studies on children and adolescents self-regulatory capacity after combining the words self-regulation with cognition, brain and neurosciences. Results: Most of the articles included are from North America. A PICOS analysis was performed to increase understanding of self-regulatory capacity. Two dimensions of self-regulation are identified, contributing to a more global conceptualization of the concept of self-regulation; A cognitive dimension associated with executive functions, effortful control and inhibitory control, among others, and a dimension associated with personality, including traits such as irritability, impulsivity, openness and hyperactivity. Next, the instruments used to measure self-regulation are described, followed by a report of the important neurobiological findings, specifically, activation of the anterior cingulate cortex, dorsolateral prefrontal and ventromedial prefrontal cortex. Conclusion: Self-regulatory capacity is associated with a complex functioning that favors adaptive behavior and has neurobiological correlates.
