Objectives: to analyze the impact of social protection programs on adults diagnosed with Tuberculosis. Methods: systematic review conducted by PRISMA, with registration PROSPERO CRD42019130884. The studies were identified in the VHL, PubMed, Scielo, CINAHL and Scopus databases, using the descriptors “Social Protection” and “Tuberculosis”, in combination with keywords combined with Boolean operators AND and OR. Observational and interventional studies published until October 23, 2019, in Portuguese, English and Spanish, were included. Results: social protection programs improve the treatment of tuberculosis, cure rates, adherence to treatment, the provision of services for the control of TB and reduce poverty. Conclusions: social protection programs have a positive impact on the treatment and control of people diagnosed with Tuberculosis.
Objective: To evaluate the quality of life (QoL) of elderly quilombolas (residents of quilombo settlements first established by escaped slaves) in mixed urban and rural residential developments (agrovilas) in Alcântara, Maranhão, Brazil. Method: An observational, cross-sectional and descriptive study was performed. The sample consisted of 129 elderly people of both genders, aged 60 years or older and living in northeastern Brazil. The sample was allocated into three groups, distributed according to geographic space. Quality of life was assessed using the WHOQoL-Bref instrument and a sociodemographic questionnaire was applied. The comparison between groups was carried out using the Anova test (one-way) and subsequently the Bonferroni Post-Hoc test. The correlation was obtained by the Pearson test, p<0.05. Results: Elderly quilombolas had a mean age of 69.7 years (±7.9) and were predominantly men with low income and schooling. Quality of life had higher scores in the social domain (values) and lower in the environmental domain (values). Quality of life as measured by the psychological domain was higher in group I than in groups II (p=0.012) and III (p=0.002). The facets of QoL correlated with facets of health for group I (r=0.357; p=0.032) and III (r=0.461; p<0.001). Conclusion: The situation of the quilombola population surveyed is considered vulnerable and psychological factors influence QoL.
Objective: to identify the evidence about the repercussion of intersectoral programs / actions / strategies in the reduction of social inequities experienced by children and adolescents in social vulnerability. Method: integrative review performed in the following databases: National Library of Medicine, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, Latin-American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature, Web of Science, Scopus, and Scientific Electronic Library Online. Primary studies published between 2005 and 2019, written in English, Portuguese, or Spanish, were included. The Rayyan tool was used during selection. The sample was composed of 27 studies, and Ursi was used to extract data. The studies’ methodological quality was verified with the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool, and descriptive statistics were used. Results: the main results show that intersectoral actions resulted in improved access to health, improved child nutrition indicators, better mental health care, the adoption of a healthy lifestyle, and improved quality of life. Conclusion: significant advancements found in the development and lives of children and adolescents are assigned to intersectoral actions. The studies report that different strategies were used in different regions worldwide and contributed to improved children’s and adolescents’ quality of life, supporting new intersectoral policies.
SUMMARY AIM: the present study analysed the association between Zika-virus and microcephaly during the gestational period of women in Brazil. Methodology: Systematic reviews of intervention research, current publications of clinical investigations were used systematic search strategies in three electronic databases PubMed, SciELO and Google academic. The following keywords were used: Microcephaly, gestation, Zika-virus to perform the search, and 1020 articles were obtained after exclusion, 45 were left and 35 were eligible. The collection period was from 2004 to 2017. Results: Epidemiological data suggest a temporal association between the quantitative increase and the Zika-virus epidemic, especially in Northeast Brazil. It is not consensual to measure the cephalic perimeter curve to be considered. Conclusion: Given this, the application of techniques to accurately diagnose the relationship between causes and effects in the pathogenesis of Zika virus infection in the central nervous system should be prioritized.
