. Se constató percentual elevado de aciertos de las cuestiones, excepto las que se referían a la Ruta de infeccióny Tiempo mínimo de fricción de las manos con preparación alcohólica. Se concluyó que 86,52% de los profesionales investigados no conocían integralmente las instrucciones para higienización de las manos. Se sugiere que el tema higienización de las manos sea abordado con los equipos investigados, por medio de procesos educativos permanentes, basados en metodologías activas. <p>Objetivo: identificar as atividades de lazer realizadas em uma Instituição de Longa Permanência para Idosos e apreender a percepção dos idosos acerca do lazer. Método: estudo descritivo e qualitativo realizado entre janeiro e abril de 2013 junto a 15 idosos institucionalizados. Os dados foram coletados por meio de entrevistas semiestruturadas, analisados pelos princípios da interpretação temática e discutidos à luz do referencial teórico de Foucault. Resultados: o entendimento do lazer para os idosos estava vinculado ao bem-estar psicossocial. As atividades de lazer praticadas eram em sua maioria artísticas, intelectuais, manuais, físicas e sociais, as quais eram promovidas principalmente pela comunidade externa à instituição. Idosos com déficits sensoriais, motores ou cognitivos tiveram dificuldade e/ ou foram impossibilitados de participar ativamente das atividades. Conclusão: as atividades de lazer realizadas na instituição proporcionavam benefícios aos idosos, contudo eram permeadas por relações de poder.<br />Descritores: Pessoa idosa. Objective: to know the perception of nurses, undergraduate students, and professors about the competencies for professional nurses in elder care. Methods: this is a qualitative analytical study developed with six professors, four nurses, and 12 nursing students. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using Fiorin’s Discourse technique, with support from the MAXQDA software. Results: the competencies identified included knowledge of theories and general concepts of gerontology, communication, listening, leadership, teamwork, proactivity, respect, and empathy. Final considerations: knowing the competencies contributes to understanding the aging process and qualifying nurses for elder care.
RESUMOObjetivo: verificar o conhecimento de profissionais de enfermagem sobre a fricção antisséptica das mãos com preparação alcoólica. Método: estudo quantitativo, descritivo e exploratório realizado com 27 profissionais de enfermagem de um hospital de operadora de plano privado de saúde, que preencheram um questionário semiestruturado. O nível de conhecimento foi analisado com base no Índice de Positividade e considerado satisfatório quando os acertos foram ≥80%. Os resultados foram apresentados em tabelas. Resultados: para as questões sobre a cobertura das mãos com o produto e necessidade de secagem após fricção, o conhecimento foi satisfatório (92,6% e 85.2%, respectivamente); mas, para o tempo mínimo do procedimento e necessidade das mãos estarem previamente secas foi insatisfatório (18.5% e 59.3%, respectivamente). Conclusão: o conhecimento da equipe de enfermagem foi insuficiente. Este estudo chama a atenção para a necessidade de ações de educação permanente sobre higienização das mãos com a preparação alcoólica a fim de fortalecer a cultura de segurança do paciente. The level of knowledge was assessed based on the index of positivity. Correct answers ≥80% were considered satisfactory. The results are presented in tables. Results: for questions addressing the full coverage of hands with the product and the need of drying the hands after rubbing, the knowledge was satisfactory (92.6% and 85.2%, respectively); however, for the minimal time required by the procedure and need of having the hands dried prior to the procedure, the answers were unsatisfactory (18.5% and 59.3%, respectively). Conclusion: nursing professionals’ level of knowledge was insufficient. This study draws attention to the need for continuing education on hand hygiene using alcoholic preparations in order to enhance patient safety. Objective: To know the perception of relatives of elderly people about the coexistence center and its importance in supporting the Health Care Network. Methodology: A qualitative study carried out with 14 relatives of elderly people participating in a coexistence center. Data collection took place in January 2016 through individual interviews, which were recorded, transcribed and submitted to content analysis. The results were discussed in the light of the theoretical referential of health promotion. Results: The elderly's participation in the coexistence center was an alternative to support care and institutionalization, provided time for self-care and to maintain or engage in the formal labor market and positively influenced the family relationships. Conclusion: The coexistence center was set up as a health promotion institution, being jointly responsible for the care of the elderly with the Health Care Network and the families.
OBJECTIVE: To adapt the Leisure Attitude Measurement to the Brazilian culture and to evaluate the face and content validity of the Brazilian version for older population. METHODS: Methodological study of cross-cultural adaptation in five stages: initial translation; synthesis of translations; back translation; evaluation by a committee of experts using a face and content validity assessment instrument; pre-test with 36 elderly, selected by convenience, with the application of a pre-test evaluation instrument. Data were analyzed descriptively and internal consistency measured by Cronbach’s alpha coefficient. RESULTS: Evidenced face and content validity of the adapted version, as well as its equivalence with the original version. In the pretest, the elderly were 71.5 years old on average, 66.7% were women, 47.2% had a stable union, 66.7% lived with family members, 47.2% had 12 or more years of education and 58.3% received two minimum wages or more. The instrument revealed good internal consistency with a coefficient of 0.95 for the total global instrument and 0.88, 0.92 and 0.88 for the cognitive, affective and behavioral domains, respectively. CONCLUSIONS: The instrument’s adaptation to the Brazilian culture was successful and allows to assess the attitude of the elderly in relation to leisure in a reliable manner, even though the results are a preliminary version, to be concluded after the psychometric analysis. The instrument could be incorporated in various health fields in Brazil and will allow the production of standardized data, comparison between cultures and strategies to promote positive attitudes towards leisure.
Objective: To understand the reasons that lead Brazilian and Spanish seniors to enroll in a university for the elderly. Method: A qualitative study that used Symbolic Interactionism as a theoretical reference and the Grounded Theory as a methodological reference. We interviewed 44 seniors enrolled in universities for the elderly from two countries (Brazil and Spain) between October 2014 and May 2016. Results: The motivations were related to the necessity of occupying the free time, even for improving health; to the opportunity of access to university learning bypassing formal education criteria; to the expansion of social relations, sought through the creation of new friendships, the desire to know other people’s life experiences, and the exchange of knowledge. Final considerations: Older people have sought in universities for the elderly a pleasurable way of learning and occupying the free time.
Objective: To understand the contributions of university activities for active aging of elderly people committed to the Open University for the Third Age program. Method: This is a qualitative study guided by Symbolic Interactionism as a theoretical framework and by the Grounded Theory as a methodological framework. Data were collected between April and October 2020, through individual interviews with the elderly, coordinators, and professors of an Open University for the Third Age. The software Atlas.ti ® was used to support the analysis, which took place through open, axial, and integration coding. Results: Participation in university activities contributed to strengthening the pillars that support the active aging policy. Contributions were driven by lifelong learning, included in the program through nonformal continuing education, which optimized opportunities for the elderly’s health, participation, and safety. Conclusion: The contributions arising from participation in university activities favor the (re)construction of the elderly’s resilience in coping with everyday situations.
