O estudo teve como objetivo descrever a percepção de acadêmicos de Ciências Contábeis acerca da implantação do eSocial. A metodologia utilizada na pesquisa se enquadra como quantitativa, descritiva e de levantamento. O instrumento de coleta de dados foi um questionário contendo dezessete questões fechadas e validado por três especialistas da área. A população foi composta de 188 acadêmicos matriculados no curso de Ciências Contábeis de uma universidade comunitária de Santa Catarina, e a amostra formada por 131 respondentes, o que representa 69,68% da população. Os dados coletados foram tabulados com apoio do software Microsoft Excel® e a técnica de análise de dados utilizada foi a estatística descritiva. Como principais resultados, foi possível observar que os acadêmicos de Ciências Contábeis desta universidade não possuem informações suficientes acerca do eSocial, sentem-se pouco preparados para sua implantação, e não há opiniões concretas a respeito dos resultados de sua implantação. Foi possível perceber, ainda, que a ausência de informações dos acadêmicos acerca do eSocial pode estar relacionada com a falta de experiência profissional, ou mesmo pelo fato de estes acadêmicos não possuírem conhecimentos específicos na área de Departamento Pessoal.
