This paper aims to discuss the Seroja Tropical Cyclone and its impact on extreme weather. Seroja tropical cyclones occur from April 4 to 5th 2021, in the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) region. Based on data from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the initial position of the Seroja tropical cyclone was in the Savu Sea, southwest of Timor Island. Since April 1, 2021, the NTT region has become the center of low pressure that triggers the formation of this cyclone. When a tropical storm occurs, the intensity of rainfall which initially reaches less than 60 mm/day, increases rapidly to more than 100 mm/day on April 4 to 5, 2021. This is the impact of the low-pressure center that triggers the formation of tropical cyclones in the region.
Land resources are part of nature related to the availability of water, nutrients, and food that are dynamic and play an important role in the lives of living creatures, including humans. From time to time, land use experiences changes in response to human activities that benefit their lives. This research was conducted to determine trends in land use change in North Maluku Province, Indonesia, as well as to find out the land resource balance and land carrying capacity in the province. The methods comprised a simple descriptive and quantitative analysis along with spatial analysis using GIS. The results showed that land use in North Maluku Province for paddy fields was higher than that for non-paddy land use. However, the increase in non-paddy land use was greater every year compared with the increase in paddy land use. The land resource balance in North Maluku Province in 2010–2018 also showed a decrease in non-agricultural protected forest, by 150895.79 Ha, as well as an increase in 4286 Ha of irrigated paddy fields. Meanwhile, the land carrying capacity during this same period was found to be declining at a rate of 6% per year, based on the population increase each year within a permanent land area.
Industri pengolahan di Kabupaten Kendal terus mengalami peningkatan hingga menjadi sektor unggulan. Hal tersebut berkontribusi terhadap PDRB, penyerapan tenaga kerja, dan UMK. Kontribusi dari indikator tersebut turut berhubungan dengan IPM. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui perkembangan IPM, jumlah industri, PDRB dan penyerapan tenaga kerja industri pengolahan serta UMK Kabupaten Kendal tahun 2010−2019; mengidentifikasi sektor industri pengolahan sebagai sektor unggulan Kabupaten Kendal serta mengetahui hubungan antara PDRB industri pengolahan, penyerapan tenaga kerja industri pengolahan, UMK dengan IPM Kabupaten Kendal. Data yang digunakan merupakan data sekunder dengan metode analisis meliputi analisis deskriptif, Location Quotient (LQ) dan uji korelasi Spearman Rank. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan sektor industri pengolahan merupakan sektor unggulan Kabupaten Kendal (LQ >1) dibuktikan adanya peningkatan tiap indikator di tahun 2019 dibandingkan tahun 2010. Hasil korelasi menunjukkan antara PDRB, penyerapan tenaga kerja, dan UMK berkorelasi positif dan sangat kuat dengan IPM, nilai korelasi masing-masing secara berurutan sebesar 1; 0,879; dan 1.
