The aim of the Community Service Program, Kuliah Kerja Nyata-Pembelajaran dan Pemberdayaan Kepada Masyarakat (KKN-PPM) is to improve the skills of society, especially housewives. The partners of this activity are non-productive communities in Sindanglaya village, Cinangka. The problem faced does not know the use of used cooking oil/minyak jelantah to produce products that are useful and have selling value. The method of implementing this service is through (1) Survey through observation, interviews, and analysis of problems and potential of the village, (2) Training on making carbolic acid from minyak jelantah, (3) training on making detergent powder. The results of this program are increasing knowledge and skills of the community regarding (1) processing minyak jelantah into carbolic acid, and (2) making powder detergent. This program is expected to facilitate the community in increasing their knowledge and skills in processing used/waste materials into products that are useful and have selling value, therefore that the societies in Sindanglaya become productive communities.
Teacher is one of actor who has the important position to determine the success key of process of learning. Although, the factors that can affects the process of learnnig is not only based on the teacher itself. But as an agent of educator in formal educational institution, the teacher can bring the biggest impact for all of the students. Because as we known, to create the best quality in process of learning, it always need the qualify and professional teacher. There are four competence that should be mastering by teachers, to make themselves be qualify . One of the competence is pedagogical competence. This one, is competence that make the teacher profession is different from the other profesion. This research aimed to describe the ability of teacher in mastering pedagogical competence, and also the process of implementation of pedagogical competence in teaching English at SMK PGRI 3 Kota Serang. This research is one the kind qualitative research with the descriptive approach. To collect data related to the subject that being studied in this research, the writer used some of techniques such as observation, questionnaire, interview and some of the research documentations. This research used three of English teacher as a sample research. For the result of this research it can see based on the result of observation sheet that show is around 65.625% for the implementation of pedagogical competence in the process of teaching English. And, for the result of questionnaire get the 70% for score in ability of teacher in mastering pedagogical competence. Based on this research, it can conclude that the ability of teacher in mastering pedagogical competence and implementation of it in teaching English are still include on the good category.
Nowadays, along with the times and technology, movies have become one of the most effective mass-communication media, which can be used as a place to share knowledge, tell stories, or provide certain information. One of them is to provide information about education, where during the learning process students may experience learning disorders, both students with normal physical and students with disabilities. This research aims to analyze how learning disorders occur in the main character and to analyze how the intrinsic motivation of the main character in The Theory of Everything movie. In this research used content analysis method. The object of this research is The Theory of Everything movie which describes Stephen Hawking’s life until he achieved his success. Based on the analysis that has been done, the results of the research found are: the learning disorders occur in the main character of The Theory of Everything movie is caused by amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, such as: motor disorders and communication disorders. In motor disorders, the main character has developmental coordination disorder and stereotypic movement disorder. While on communication disorders, the main character has speech sound disorder, childhood-onset fluency disorder (stuttering), and unspecified communication disorder. In addition, the intrinsic motivation of the main character can be seen from all aspects of intrinsic motivation, they are: the needs to fulfil dissatisfaction when he has not completed his task, knowing his progress, and have aspirations or goals in his life.
Writing as productive skill is closed with learner in university. They should do lots of writing. English for Academic Purposes programme such as English for Environmental Engineering can be involved in keeping issue logs which are kind of project work. This research investigated of using essay in teaching English as media to improve students’ writing skill. The writer conducted a classroom action research as a method in this research. Writer used Essay as media that was implemented in Environmental engineering class at Banten Jaya University. The class consisted of 25 students. This research was conducted in two cycles. Before doing the treatment, writer gave students pre-test. The mean score of students’ pre test was 65. It indicates that their writing was low. After that, the writer implemented the treatment and gave students post-test. The result of test in cycle one shows that there was improvement, the score was 75. It indicates that there was an improvement from pre-test and post-test one. But, it is still not maximal. Thus, the writer conducted the next cycle (cycle two) in order to reach the target that the students could reach score 80. The result of test in cycle two (post-test two) shows that mean score of students writing was 85. Thus, the using Essay model in teaching writing is excellent to improve students’ writing skill. They was able to gathering ideas, organising the ideas and make essay paragraph with varieties topic that related on their field.
The objective of the research is to understand comprehensively about the process of Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) based English Instruction at SMA Islam Nurul Fikri Boarding School in Banten Province. The research uses qualitative research with Ethnography design. The data of the research were collected through observation, interview, field notes, and document analysis. The data analyze based on Spradley's terms such as domain analysis, taxonomic analysis, component analysis, and cultural theme analysis. The research findings show that (1) Curriculum and syllabus that are used by SMAI NFBS are National Curriculum (Curriculum 2013) and Jaringan Sekolah Islam Terpadu (JSIT) Curriculum, (2) The purposes of ICT based English instruction were to have communicative skill in order the students are able to communicate well by using English in spoken and written form; able to read and understand the English, and to continue to the next level of study, (3) Learning material uses several kinds such as printing based, audio, visual, audio visual, computer and multimedia, (4) The learning process is designed based on the syllabus of SMAI NFBS which integrated of two ability; functional and communication ability, (5) Approach, method, and technique in learning uses variatively according to the English material and students need, (6) The media uses as tool for learning English, SMAI NFBS is one school which provides and develops ICT based media for learning, (7) The roles of teacher were facilitator, motivator, creator/programmer, advisor, evaluator, learning partner, and model for the students, (8) The assessment of student's competence was comprehensive and continuity assessment, means the assessment was conducted for all languages skills, before, during, and after the learning process.
