A atividade suinícola, essencial para a economia de muitos municípios do oeste catarinense, tem contribuído para o desencadeamento de problemas ambientais, marcadamente, em relação aos recursos hídricos. Os principais resíduos resultantes dessa atividade, os dejetos, podem ser caracterizados como poluidores de grande magnitude. Nesse sentido, O presente estudo procurou avaliar a qualidade da água em uma área de atividade suinícola, localizada na área rural do município de Quilombo, oeste de Santa Catarina, A pesquisa teve como base a abordagem sistêmica, permitindo a análise dos distintos componentes do meio físico e antrópico, em interação. Foram feitas análises de água, no sentido de apontar o nível de poluição hídrica gerado pelos dejetos. Os resultados apontaram que o meio hídrico da região apresenta características químicas e biológicas alteradas, embora os níveis mais elevados tenham sido detectados à jusante da área urbana, onde o Rio Quilombo recebe maior carga poluidora.
RESUMOEsta pesquisa procurou mostrar o impacto ambiental causado pelos dejetos de suínos na Bacia Hidrográfica do Rio Quilombo, no município de Quilombo -SC. Foram realizados levantamentos de dados, através de visitas a campo e pesquisas bibliográficas. Procurou-se esclarecer a atual situação da atividade suinícola, uma vez que esta atividade está presente na maioria das propriedades rurais do município, empregando basicamente mão-de-obra familiar e constituindose em fonte de renda. Embora trazendo benefícios para o produtor, a criação de suínos nesta bacia não utiliza práticas que garantam um destino adequado aos dejetos. ABSTRACTThis research showed the environmental impact caused by the swinish dejection in the hydrographic basin of Quilombo River in the municipality of Quilombo-SC. An information survey has been held through field research and bibliography. It shows the current situation about the hog raising activitys, this activy happens in most rural properties in the municipality, which is basic family manual labor which is a source of income. Although it brings benefits for the producer, the swinish ireation in this basin is not correctly practiced concerning swinish dejection.
