Children and adolescents in street situation: relationships between street, work and school Abstract: The considerable increase in the number of children and adolescents in poverty in Brazil who need actions to defend and guarantee their rights is notorious. Among these, those who are on the streets and who use urban public spaces to develop survival tactics stand out. For them, the street becomes a place of varied dynamics, of individual and collective survival, of sociability, of practice of legal or illegal activities and even of housing. This reality raises questions about the positive aspects of the street that minimize situations of poverty and that make it attractive and seductive when compared to school, family and complementary educational programs; which can cause the inefficiency of many public policies and non-governmental projects that aim to reduce or eradicate the problem. Along this path, this article aims to reflect on the daily lives of children and adolescents living on the streets, on the sociability relationships established with their peers and on inclusion actions at school. This reflection comes mainly from studies by Andrade (2019; 2021), Graciani (2005; 2014), Gregori (2000), Leite (2001) and Telles, (2006). Studies indicate that the change of scenario, in which children and adolescents leave the streets, return to family life and are inserted in school, must consider several meanings and contexts that involve the causes and situations of poverty. The school, as a welcoming and inclusive space, must be ready to deal with differences, with diversity, with cultures and, above all, with the knowledge that is part of the daily life of children and adolescents who seek survival on the streets. Keywords: Street children and adolescents. Social education. Teaching. Street survival tactics.
