This study aims to study how disaster losses are affected by unemployment and poverty, then how disasters also cause income inequality in Indonesia and the causal relationship between disaster losses and income inequality. To determine the structural relationship between economic variables and disaster losses, the Structural Equation Model-Partial Least Squares (SEM -PLS) approach is used. This approach is an approach previously not found in economic and environmental studies. This study uses secondary data consisting of 30 years 1990-2019 collected from the territory of Indonesia. The results of the study found that unemployment and poverty variables had a significant effect on the disaster loss variable. The disaster loss variable has a significant effect on the income inequality variable. The income inequality variable has no effect on the disaster loss variable. Research is expected to contribute to the study of the impact of economic development and the environment.
Background: The ability of healthcare system to face the COVID-19 pandemic requires a professional competency in maintaining medical records to increase information and healthcare services quality. This study analyses the competency influence to medical record and health information management on planning and decision-making of healthcare services. A case study was conducted to explore this phenomenon. The COVID-19 has impacted to the clinical records is also discussed. Methods: The study uses a quantitative method to analyse correlation between medical record professional competencies, the quality and decision-making of healthcare services. Data analysis was used the structural equation model. The data were collected through purposive sampling of 49 respondents in case study hospital in Padang, Indonesia. Results: The medical record competency construct has a less significant effect on the decisionmaking construct, although the latter is positively related to competency. The quality construct is positively related to and has a significant effect on the decision-making construct. Conclusion: In the case study hospital revealed the competent medical record professional had a small influence on decision-making. In the COVID-19 pandemic situation, the new tools or systems such as telehealth or telemedicine might be an alternative by the healthcare service provider to improve their clinical record management information systems.
Economic development should consider the negative effects it creates. This will help to achieve a sustainable economic development. The green economic concept can be a solution to development process that works on natural resources conservation. This paper proposes a discriminant analysis to describe the green economic development. It analyses a group of countries, classified by their income levels. The analysis result suggests that environment factors such as emissions and area of the forest are important variables.
The quality of the environment is very important for the sustainability of a country’s economic development, and the environment is influenced by macroeconomic indicators. This study aimed to analyze the effect of economic growth, energy consumption, poverty and population on Indonesia’s quality of environment index. The data used in this research were secondary data and multiple linear regression was used to analyze the data. Based on the results, energy consumption and population have a significant effect on the index of the quality of the living environment in Indonesia. Meanwhile, the variables of economic growth and poverty have a partially insignificant effect on this index. So the results provide empirical evidence that environmentally friendly energy consumption actions have been well managed. The population was found to have a negative effect on environmental quality, perhaps partly due to irresponsible exploitation by residents where natural resources have became an easy choice for fulfilling needs. These actions must be recognized as damaging the environment and threatening the survival of life.
Keywords: environmental quality index, economic growth, population, poverty, energy consumption
