There are ample remote learning platforms to be used and obviously each of them has strengths and weaknesses. However, based on a survey, WhatsApp becomes the top choice to be used by students in Madura for some reasons; this is a case study on maximizing the use of Whatsapp to promote students’ engagement in English remote learning. The data are collected through Google form questionnaire and in-depth interview via WhatsApp voice notes. The subjects are English lecturers and higher education students of English department from several Universities in Madura whom are volunteers to be taken as sample. The result showed that exploring the various features of WhatsApp, blending various learning platforms to WhatsApp and lecturer’s creativity in maximising the use of WhatsApp enable to promote the students’ engagement toward the English remote learning. Thus, it is suggested to maximize the use of WhatsApp as to promote the students’ engagement towards the English Remote Learning.

Realizing an environmentally friendly campus should be the responsibility of all campus residents, including students as the most significant residents. This research looks at the extent to which IAIN Madura students understand eco-literacy to analyze the potential and challenges that the IAIN Madura have in realizing an environmentally friendly campus. The study results showed that the majority (70%) of IAIN Madura students claimed to have known the meaning of eco-literacy. However, only 46.4% were able to define eco-literacy correctly, while 53.6% incorrectly defined eco-literacy. The potential and challenges for realizing an environmentally friendly campus at IAIN Madura can be conducted by 1) utilizing vacant land as green openings. 2) managing water waste to irrigate green opening areas at IAIN Madura. 3) providing more waste disposal facilities that can sort the waste by its type so it is easier to use and processed more efficiently. 4) implementing the BULKY Store system in the IAIN Madura canteen. 5) implementing policies requiring less paper and less plastic for all campus residents and providing more effective and efficient parking lots. The research results become material for consideration in making strategic policies to create an environmentally friendly campus.(Mewujudkan kampus yang ramah lingkungan seharusnya menjadi tanggung jawab seluruh warga kampus, termasuk mahasiswa sebagai warga kampus dengan kuantitas terbesar. Penelitian ini nantinya akan melihat sejauh mana pemahaman mahasiswa IAIN Madura terhadap literasi lingkungan sehingga nanti dapat peneliti Analisa potensi dan tantangan yang dimiliki kampus IAIN Madura dalam meujudkan dirinya sebagai Kampus yang Ramah lingkungan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan Sebagian besar (70%) dari mahasiswa IAIN Madura mengaku telah mengetahui apa yang dimaksud dengan ekoliterasi. Namun hanya 46,4% yang mampu mendefinisikan ekoliterasi dengan benar, sedangkan (53,6%) salah mendefinisikan ekoliterasi. Potensi dan tantangan untuk mewujudkan kampus IAIN Madura yang ramah lingkungan adalah 1) memanfaatkan lahan yang kosong sebagai lahan bukaan hijau. 2) mengelola Limbah air agar dapat mengairi daerah bukaan hijau di IAIN Madura. 3) menyediakan lebih banyak fasilitas pembuangan sampah yang dipilah-pilah berdasarkan jenisnya sehingga lebih mudah dimanfaatkan dan diolah dengan lebih efisien. 4) menerapkan system BULKY Store di kantin IAIN Madura. 5) menerapkan kebijakan mewajibkan Less Paper dan Less Plastic bagi seluruh warga kampus, menyediakan lahan parkir yang lebih efektif dan efisien. hasil penelitian ini akan menjadi bahan pertimbangan dalam pengambilan kebijakan strategis untuk mewujudkan kampus ramah lingkungan).

Edmodo, Teaching, Writing The information and communication technology (ICT) nowadays has surrounded the students and the lecturers in their daily activities, so the use of digital learning in a classroom becomes essential. This study focuses on writing because for most students it is difficult skill in English. They need to be given some facilities that can raise their interest as well as their confidence to publish their writing. The aim of this study was to describe how the lecturer implements edmodo as a digital language learning platform for social science education major students, how their writing assignment using Edmodo and how their respons after using Edmodo. This study used descriptive qualitative. This study would explore some of the features using field note, students' assignments and interview employed as the the instruments. The data analysis techniques by using data triangulation. The resuts showed that the students actively participate in writing their tasks through Edmodo. They can share their ideas freely and the lecturer can monitor them easily by giving feedback directly toward their writing components; format, punctuation and mechanics, content, organization, grammar and sentence structure. The feedback can be given at anytime from anywhere without banded into a classroom meeting. It does not only help students in improving their motivation in writing but it also builds students' confidence because they do not feel depressed while writing in front of their lecturer in a limited time and frustrating classroom situation.

Many students get difficulties in speaking English because of a weak soft skill they have, such as motivation, creativity, and self-confidence. Therefore, lecturers' role in inserting soft skill in teaching speaking is essential because learning success is influenced more by soft skill than Intellectual Quotient. This study discussed kinds of soft skills inserted by lecturers in teaching speaking, the ways of lecturers insert them, and how those soft skills help students speak English. This study used qualitative approach by descriptive research design. The data are obtained from English lecturers and TBI students at the third semester of STAIN Pamekasan, period 2014/2015 by observation, field note, interview, and documentation. The results revealed that there are kinds of soft skills inserted by the lecturers, such as self-perceptions, motivation, perseverance, metacognition, social skill, and creativity. Whereas, the ways lecturers insert them are by using classroom discussion, reward, telling story, teacher talk, ordering students to perform drama, microteaching, asking students to use name tag, and sometimes lecturers use the same way in the next meeting if the previous materials have not finished. Those soft skills contribute to the students' speaking skill, such as making them more communicative, more interactive, and used more various language.

As a means of communication, the politeness aspect of language always comes together with interpersonal communication. People can reflect politeness in communication activities through their verbal language. This research aims to analyze and describe the elementary school language teachers' imperative speech focusing on the form, meaning, and imperative pragmatic politeness. This study is descriptive qualitative research. The data were teachers' speeches during the teaching-learning process. The data were collected by using the observation method with observing, recording, and note-taking techniques. The imperative pragmatic meaning of the prohibition and interrogative speech describes the pragmatic meaning of imperative commands widely used by SD Integral Lukman al-Hakim Sumenep language teachers. Meanwhile, according to Leech's politeness principles, the teachers use six maxims categories; tact maxim, generosity maxim, approbation maxim, modesty maxim, agreement maxim, and sympathy maxim. In addition, imperative speech with the complete agreement is also found, namely in the form of action as a student's reaction to the teacher's imperative speech; the findings also prove that imperative speech found in the imperative form and the non-imperative form of politeness. Both of the politeness in the speech of the Language teacher forms are based on the construction of Leech's politeness principles.
