El objetivo del artículo es determinar el grado de aversión al riesgo implícito en el precio de mercado del dólar estadounidense, la tasa de política monetaria argentina y las acciones líderes del índice S&P Merval. Metodológicamente se aplica el concepto de equivalente de certeza, modelando el comportamiento frente al riesgo de los agentes a partir de la función de utilidad con aversión al riesgo relativa constante (CRRA) y de la función de tres parámetros flexibles (FTP). Los resultados muestran que el coeficiente de aversión al riesgo implícito oscila entre 0.50 y 0.89 bajo el supuesto de CRRA, mientras que fluctúa entre 0.46 y 1.10 cuando se asume FTP. Las limitaciones del trabajo incluyen la extensión de la serie temporal y funciones de utilidad elegidas. Su originalidad radica en la metodología propuesta, los tipos de activos considerados, el uso comparativo de dos funciones de utilidad y su aplicación en un mercado emergente. Como principal conclusión, se identifica un comportamiento de aversión al riesgo con ambas funciones, que varía de moderada a muy elevada según cuál de ellas se emplea.
El trabajo presenta un compendio no exhaustivo de los antecedentes teóricos sobre la utilidad de los individuos y una sistematización analítica de diferentes propuestas de formas funcionales que la misma puede adoptar. Se presentan la función de utilidad con aversión al riesgo absoluta constante (CARA), la función con aversión al riesgo relativa constante (CRRA), la función con aversión al riesgo absoluta hiperbólica (HARA), la función Expo-Power (EP), la función de aversión al riesgo de potencia (PRA) y la función de tres parámetros flexibles (FTP). Para cada una de ellas se detallan las características intrínsecas en cuanto a las preferencias de los individuos, teniendo en cuenta los coeficientes de aversión absoluta y relativa al riesgo. Finalmente, se realiza un análisis de sensibilidad de la utilidad y los coeficientes de aversión al riesgo frente a cambios en el nivel de riqueza, mostrando cómo se comportan las diferentes funciones.
El artículo desarrolla un análisis conceptual de la literatura sobre opciones exóticas a partir de dos objetivos específicos: primero, describir los principales conceptos, características y tipos de opciones exóticas; segundo, analizar la evolución de las publicaciones en la temática. Metodológicamente, se efectúa una investigación documental de autores clásicos y una revisión sistemática de la literatura bajo protocolo en las bases de datos bibliográficas Scopus y Web of Science. Las 96 publicaciones obtenidas se someten a análisis bibliométricos y de contenido. Se identifican trabajos publicados mayoritariamente en revistas (72%) entre 2006 y 2015 (64%), en su mayoría sobre valoración de opciones exóticas. Las opciones dependientes de la trayectoria del precio del activo subyacente son las más utilizadas, en especial barrera, lookback y asiáticas. Como contribución teórica, el análisis de la evolución de la literatura representa un cimiento sustancial para futuros estudios pues permite individualizar las publicaciones más relevantes sobre opciones exóticas, detectar brechas en el campo del conocimiento y reconocer temas en auge. A nivel práctico, la mejor comprensión del tema podría derivar en una mayor utilización de instrumentos exóticos.
