The aqueous degradation of Eu2+‐activated and Dy3+‐codoped strontium aluminate (SrAl2O4:Eu2+, Dy3+, SA2‐Green) long afterglow phosphors synthesized from solid‐state reaction and coated with nanoscale metal oxide protective layers (≤12 nm) via atomic layer deposition (ALD) is investigated. Uncoated phosphor powders degrade rapidly upon water immersion and lose their green phosphorescence within 48 hours of water exposure. Postmortem investigations reveal hydration and decomposition of the SrAl2O4 phase. ALD of ~10 nm Al2O3 or ~12 nm TiO2 is found to significantly improve the powder's resistance to aqueous degradation. All ALD‐coated powders show minimal structural and chemical degradation and retain phosphoresence after 48 hours of water immersion. This enhanced durability offers a new pathway for applying long afterglow phosphors to outdoor applications like roadway markings or safety signage and for their incorporation into more eco‐friendly waterborne coatings.
bLike many algae, Chlamydomonas reinhardtii is phototactic, using two anterior flagella to swim toward light optimal for photosynthesis. The flagella are responsive to signals initiated at the photosensory eyespot, which comprises photoreceptors in the plasma membrane and layers of pigment granules in the chloroplast. Phototaxis depends on placement of the eyespot at a specific asymmetric location relative to the flagella, basal bodies, and bundles of two or four highly acetylated microtubules, termed rootlets, which extend from the basal bodies toward the posterior of the cell. Previous work has shown that the eyespot is disassembled prior to cell division, and new eyespots are assembled in daughter cells adjacent to the nascent four-membered rootlet associated with the daughter basal body (D4), but the chronology of these assembly events has not been determined. Here we use immunofluorescence microscopy to follow assembly and acetylation of the D4 rootlet, localization of individual eyespot components in the plasma membrane or chloroplast envelope, and flagellar emergence during and immediately following cell division. We find that the D4 rootlet is assembled before the initiation of eyespot assembly, which occurs within the same time frame as rootlet acetylation and flagellar outgrowth. Photoreceptors in the plasma membrane are correctly localized in eyespot mutant cells lacking pigment granule layers, and chloroplast components of the eyespot assemble in mutant cells in which photoreceptor localization is retarded. The data suggest that plasma membrane and chloroplast components of the eyespot are independently responsive to a cytoskeletal positioning cue.
The purpose of this study was to investigate intercultural sensitivity among nursing students in Turkey This study is a cross-sectional study It was conducted with nursing students at a university in Ankara The sample comprised 152 nursing students at the university This study was carried out between May 2013 and June 2013 Data were collected using an Interview Questionnaire and Intercultural Sensitivity Scale The data were analysed using frequency, independent t-test and one-way ANOVA The study found out that the nursing students had higher scores of cultural sensitivity (8892 ± 1220) It was found that senior year students, the students who speak a foreign language and the students who had chosen the school willingly had higher scores of cultural sensibility (p < 005) The study found that the nursing students had higher scores of cultural sensivility To increase intercultural sensitivity of nursing students it is recommended that the maintenance strategies and the concept of intercultural sensitivity should be integrated in the curriculum of nursing education and postgraduate training programs
N-[2-(benzylamino)phenyl]benzenesulfonamide derivatives (1-6) were successfully synthesized by the reaction of imine ligands derived from various N-(2-aminophenyl)benzenesulfonamides and NaBH 4 . Then, a series of N-coordinate Ru(II) arene complexes 7-12 were prepared from the reaction of [RuCl 2 (p-cymene)] 2 with 1-6. The synthesized compounds were characterized by different methods such as NMR, FT-IR, and elemental analysis. 7-12 were used as catalysts for the transfer hydrogenation (TH) of ketones. At the same time, the effect of various bases such as NaOH, KOH, KOBu t and Et 3 N as organic base were investigated in TH of ketones by 2-propanol as the hydrogen source. 7-12 showed good catalytic activity and so the effects of the different groups were also examined.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
