Ruang publik di tingkat lokal bukanlah ruang terbuka tanpa kuasa, melainkan ruang bertemunya beragam aktor dengan ragam kepentingan yang berbeda. Oleh sebab itu, dengan mengkaji aktivitas meronda di dalam gardu, artikel ini mendiskusikan tentang bagaimana kuasa bekerja di dalam ruang publik. Gagasan Gramsci tentang hegemoni digunakan untuk menganalisa relasi kuasa yang terjadi. Sebagai penutup, artikel ini menegaskan bahwa, upaya mempengaruhi opini publik melalui dominasi budaya, menjadi basis kemenangan aktor hegemonik dalam memenangkan pengaruh di dalam gardu sebagai ruang publik. Mystical rituals in a tradition experience conflict in society because of things that are irrational in nature. For example, the grebeg maulid tradition, grebeg sudiro, lawung mahesa ceremony, mbah meyek village clean, sadranan, and slametan. However, the government has not lost the way to maintain this mystical tradition to maintain society's social order. This research is qualitative research with an ethnographic approach that focuses on the traditions that exist in Surakarta, which contain mystical but still growing. This research was conducted from 2019 to 2020. The data collected came from observations made in 5 sub-districts in Surakarta. Second, interviews with mystical actors. Third, documentation obtained from books, journals, and mass media explaining the mystical traditions in Surakarta. The data validity used the triangulation method, member check, time extension, peer debriefing. Data analysis using ethnographic analysis model. The result is that there are six ways to rationalize the mystical tradition, namely connecting the mystical with something rational, using a different name that can be accepted by the public at large, making the tools used in the tradition no longer mystical, and accommodating technological developments. such as the e-wom method to spread tradition.
The regional government has an important duty because it will determine the sustainability of the area. The problems can disrupt the stability of the region, such as natural disasters, poverty, social conflict, environmental damage, reduced value of local wisdom, intolerance, conflicts between tribes and religions, weakening of social roles, and other social problems. The purpose of this study is to determine the role of local political leadership in managing diversity based on Pancasila in Kudus Regency, especially in Colo Village and Karangrowo Village. This study also aims to find out the dynamics of local politics in managing diversity in Kudus Regency. The method of this study is a qualitative research method. The research subjects are the Head of Colo village, religious leaders in Kudus Regency, Political Observer, NGOs, and Kudus Regency community. The research method used the methods of observation, documentation and interviews with academics, members of community organizations, as well as the village officials in Kudus Regency. The results showed that firstly, the role of local political leadership in Kudus Regency in maintaining diversity was influenced by the historical factors with the presence of Sunan Kudus and Sunan Muria. The leadership of Sunan Kudus and Sunan Muria still attached to the present especially in relations of tolerance among religious people, especially Islam and Hinduism. Second, this are economic factors with the existence of trade activities carried out by Javanese people with Chinese people. Third, the industrial factors with the majority of employees are obedient women who are prone to conflict. In addition, the fourth factor is the existence of influential clerical figures in political activities, and the five roles of the local community leaders with the existence of a community of belief groups that number up to nine types.

Kajian tentang volunteerisme juga penting untuk dilakukan. Sebab, peran relawan yang begitu besar dalam membangun basis dukungan untuk memenangkan kandidat yang diusung. Peran volunteerisme ini tidak dapat diangggap remeh di tengah krisis kepercayaan kepada partai politik yang kian kehilangan legitimasi politiknya.
