A aviação, com surgimento em 1902, passa a atuar como meio de transporte civil após a Primeira Guerra Mundial, tendo se efetivado após a Segunda. O veloz deslocamento proporcionador pela aviação a configura como um essencial meio de transporte no atual contexto da globalização. Os aeroportos, surgidos como uma infraestrutura básica no processamento de passageiros e bagagens na década de 1920, têm evoluído continuamente. Tal equipamento, com singularidades e complexidades que o fazem edifícios únicos e inovadores, encontram-se em uma nova etapa de seu desenvolvimento. Se, antigamente, os aeroportos tratam-se de ambientes construídos em linguagem arquitetônica impessoal, imponente e extremamente vinculado à tecnologia, atualmente percebe-se o intuito de se estabelecer uma interação com o usuário, que não mais apenas se caracteriza pelo passageiro, buscando construir laços, vínculos, identidade. Se o aeroporto do século XX priorizava o caráter operacional, o do século XXI evidencia o comercial, inspirando na tendência ados shoppings centers. Este artigo propõe-se a refletir sobre os terminais de passageiros levando-se em considerações fatores associados à arquitetura. Tem como objetivos compreender a dinâmica evolução destes terminais, compreender como os terminais assumiram certas formas e características que apresentam nos dias atuais e identificar as especificidades dos terminais contemporâneos, que foram construídos, reformados, ampliado ou modernizados no século XXI. Como metodologia, utiliza-se pesquisa em referências bibliográficas, bem como verificações in loco em aeroportos internacionais no Brasil e no exterior, detalhando, mais especificamente, o Aeroporto Internacional Tancredo Neves (Confins, MG, Brasil) e o Aeroporto Internacional Ministro Pistarini (Buenos Aires, Argentina).
RESUMOEste artigo trata da acessibilidade nos terminais aeroportuários focando, mais especificamente, na experiência da pessoa com deficiência visual. Tendo como estudo de caso o Aeroporto Santos Dumont, no Rio de Janeiro, a pesquisa buscou avaliar se as expectativas das pessoas cegas e com baixa visão correspondem à legislação atual. Neste artigo focamos o caso dos equipamentos, mobiliários e layout. As metodologias empregadas foram: revisão bibliográfica, entrevistas, poema dos desejos e observação participante. Os resultados da pesquisa revelam diversas contradições entre as demandas do usuário e a legislação e evidenciam a necessidade de se prosseguir com pesquisas referentes à temática.
