The purpose of this research was to know the effect of breadfruit leaves flour in feed to blood profile and correlation between cholesterol, HDL and LDL of blood with meat cholesterol of maleTegal duck of 10 weeks old. The material used was Day Old Duck of male Tegal duck as much as 120 heads with experimental research methods and Completely Randomized Design (CRD). There were 6 treatments: feed without breadfruit leaf powder, feed + breadfruit flour 3% / kg feed, feed + breadfruit flour 6% / kg feed, feed + breadfruit flour 9% / kg feed, feed + flour breadfruit 12% / kg feed, and feed + breadfruit flour 15% / kg feed. Each treatment was repeated 5 times and each replication consisted of 4 ducks. The variables observed were the number of red blood cells, white blood cells, HDL, LDL, blood triglycerides, correlation between cholesterol, HDL and LDL blood with meat cholesterol of male Tegal duck of 10 weeks old. The result of the analysis showed that the supplementation of breadfruit leaves has significant effect (P <0,05) on the number of red blood cells, white blood cells, HDL, and blood triglyceride. There is a positive correlation between blood cholesterol with duck meat cholesterol which given breadfruit leaf powder. This research can be concluded that the supplementation of breadfruit leaf powder (Artocarpus altilis) can increase the number of red blood cells, white blood cells, blood HDL level but lowers blood cholesterol and triglyceride blood of male Tegal duck of 10 weeks old. Cholesterol meat is affected by blood cholesterol with regression coefficient of 0.780941, influenced by LDL (r = 0.407849), but negatively affected by HDL (r = -0.47022).
Assorted feed additives for broiler chickens, including prohibited antibiotics, are widely sold in the market. The objective of incorporating supplement in feed is to improve broilers’ performance and meat quality. This study conducted an experiment to 60 DOC broilers from each Cobb and Lohmann strains. The experiment was conducted in a 2x4 factorial CRD. The treatments were feed additives, i.e. antibiotics, probiotics, acidifiers and phytobiotics. Each treatment was repeated 3 times. The measured variables were carcass and non-carcass percentage as well as physical quality of broiler meat. Analysis of variance showed that feed additives did not significantly affect (P>0.05) carcass and non-carcass percentage and meat physical quality of the two broiler strains. Conclusively, probiotics, acidifiers and phytobiotics are the potential alternatives as a substitute for antibiotics for Cobb and Lohmann broiler chickens as reflected from the carcass percentage and meat quality.
The aim of this research was to understand the effect of liquid probiotic supplementation in drink water on blood cholesterol (HDL, LDL, Triglyceride) level, hemaglobin level (Hb), plasma hematocrit level and total of plasma protein (TPP) of quails. Prohibition of antibiotics in poultry, resulting in increased probiotic offers on the market. Each probiotic has an advantage in increasing productivity and immunity of quails. The research was conducted as an experimental research and used completely randomized design. Four treatments were done in this research, which was control (drink water without probiotic), drink water added by probiotics A (containing Lactobacillus sp., Rhodopseudomonas sp., Streptococcus sp., Saccarhomyches sp.), probiotic B (containing Bacillus careus, Azotobacterpaspalii, Bacillus laterosporu, Bacillus lentus, Bacillus licheniformes, Bacillus pumilusCorynebacterium, Pseudomonas fluorescensSarcinalutea Staphylococcus epidermis Staphylococcus thermophyllus Lactobacillus sp. Saccharomyces cerevisceae and Phicia anomola) and probiotic C (containing Lactobacillus casei, Saccharomyces cerevisceae, Rhodopseudomonas palustris, Molases, water). The obtained all data were then analyzed by analysis of variance and if the result showed a significant effect, further analysis will be done by honestly significant difference test. The analysis of variance showed that variety of fluid probiotic supplementation in drink water showed had no significant effect (P>0.05) on the on blood cholesterol, HDL level, LDL level, triglyceride, but had significant effect (P<0.05) on Hb, plasma hematocrit and TPP level. The research concluded that liquid probiotics supplementation in drink water will increase immune response but not able to reduce blood cholesterol of quails.
This study aims to determine the effect of the use of various liquid probiotics in drinking water on the quality of the reproductive tract and quail production. The study uses a Completely Randomized Design with directional pattern with four treatments, namely: quail gets drinking water without liquid probiotics (P0), quail gets drinking water with commercial probiotics A (P1), quail gets drinking water with commercial probiotics B (P2), and quail gets drinking drinking water with commercial probiotics C (P3), 5 replications and 5 quails in each study unit. Drinking water is given ad libitum with a liquid probiotic concentration of 2ml / liter. Quail feed contains 22.2% PK and 3032.5 kcal energy. The treatment affected the weight of the reproductive tract + eggs, egg weight and length of the reproductive tract, weight before slaughtered, weight after slaughtered, weight after hair removal, heart weight, gastrointestinal weight, (P <0.01) but had no effect on carcass weight, liver weight, follicular weight, gizard weight, digestive tract length and caeca length. The treatment of liquid probiotics in drinking water increases several indicators of quail reproduction and production.
Optimizing the use of agro-industrial waste as an alternative feed ingredient for sheep requires the right strategy. The use of feed additives and supplements is needed to improve the performance of sheep in utilizing agro-industrial waste-based feed. The use of hibiscus flour as a source of saponins is important to optimize rumen microbial growth by suppressing the growth of protozoa. The addition of urea is used to supply nitrogen sources to optimize the performance of rumen microbes. This study used 15 thin tail sheep aged 8 months with an average weight of 13.98 ± 1.1 kg, the experimental design used was CRD (Completely Randomized Design) with 3 types of treatment and 5 times repetition, namely R1 (control / without supplementation), R2 (supplementation of 0.1 % hibiscus flower and Urea 0.5%), R3 (supplementation of 0.2% hibiscus flower and 1% Urea). The objective of this research was to measure feed consumption and growth dynamics. The results showed that the addition of hibiscus flour and urea to the feed formula had no significant effect on the feed consumption of sheep. The growth dynamics of sheep showed a decrease in the first week of the trial, and gradually showed an increase in the second week. The highest growth increase was achieved in R3 treatment at 6 weeks of the feeding trial. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that sheep fed with 0.2% hibiscus flour supplementation and 1% Urea (R3) showed the best ability in utilizing agro-industrial waste-based feed.
