Bu çalışmada, Trabzon ili Karadeniz Teknik Üniversitesi Kanuni Kampüsündeki bazı taksonların mevsimsel görünümlerinin tercih ve algısal farklılıklarını ortaya koymak amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaçla 2015 ve 2016 yılının farklı mevsimlerinde, belirlenen taksonlara ait ağaçlar fotoğraflanmıştır. Bu fotoğraflar KTÜ, Peyzaj Mimarlığı öğrencilerine anket yöntemi kullanılarak tercih ve algılanma düzeyleri belirlenmiştir. Anlamsal farklılaşım tekniği ile de görsel algılamadaki farklılıkları tespit edilmiştir. Değerlendirme sonucu elde edilen veriler analiz edilerek görsel algılamadaki farklılıklarına göre yorumlanmıştır. Çalışmanın sonucunda, farklı mevsim görünümlerinin kullanıcıların tercihini etkilediği ve mevsimsel görünümler arasında algısal farklılıklar olduğu görülmüştür.

The rapid advances in computer technology rendered the use of the new technologies in professional disciplines such as visual arts, design, architecture and planning, where visualization is utilized prominently i.e. is a requirement. However, applications such as using conventional design tools and graphical presentation techniques, sketching, drawing plans, sections, perspectives on paper and creating models are still used in landscape architecture, architecture, interior architecture or in departments that rely on planning. Digital technologies, on the other hand, are used as supplementary tools. The aim of the present article was to determine the methods utilized predominantly in different stages of environmental design studio in landscape architecture education and the advantages and disadvantages of the utilized conventional and digital presentation techniques, and to compare the developing visualization software. In this context, the level of satisfaction of the students with these methods was determined. The study was conducted with students in the Landscape Architecture Department attending Karadeniz Technical University (KTU). The study findings demonstrated that the satisfaction levels of architecture students with digital technologies were higher when compared to conventional methods due to the facilities and superior qualities provided by the digital technologies.

Aim of study: Planting is a landscape arrangement that best integrates aesthetic, functional, ecological and symbolic influences. There are various organization styles, these styles can be generally classified as formal and naturalistic styles. Plants could be used to create borders, for architectural purposes, to create spaces, to screen bad views, for aesthetic purposes, to create emphasis, to compliment buildings, for erosion control, to direct movements, to screen light, to control noise, to provide shade and for climate control. The present study aims to identify the types of plants used as border elements, the space and purposes of their use.Area of study: This study was conducted at the Karadeniz Technical University, located on the Trabzon city.Material and Methods: The main material of the study is planting border elements and Karadeniz Technical University, Kanuni Campus. In the study, observation, data collection, analysis and evaluation were used. At the stage of observation, KTU Kanuni Campus, which is a study area, visited the situation of planting border elements and photographs were taken of the samples that could best represent themMain results: Accordingly, it was determined that the plant border elements at KTU Kanuni campus were used to separate the buildings with the garden, to create spaces, to screen bad views, for aesthetic purposes, to create emphasis, to complement the buildings, to cover the elevation differences, to direct movement, to form borders, to screen the light, and to control the noise.Research highlights: The aim of the present study was to reveal the functions of plant border elements formed with the abovementioned species. In the present study, the adaptation, aesthetic and functional effects of the observed plant border elements on the landscapes they surround and the environment were also investigated.

The present study presents a three-step methodology to determine the environmental satisfaction levels of the elderly individuals in nursing home gardens. The first step comprised the selection of seven nursing homes in five provinces in the Eastern Black Sea region in Turkey. In the second step, 130 participants were selected among the residents of these seven nursing homes via random sampling. In the third step, the satisfaction level of the nursing home residents with the institution gardens was determined. A correlation analysis showed a positive relationship between the environmental and individual characteristics ( r =  0.554; p < 0.01). Simple regression analysis was conducted to determine the effect of environmental characteristics on the satisfaction of individual needs, after determining the direction and level of the relationship between the environmental and the individual characteristics via correlation analysis. The analysis indicated a significant relationship between the environmental and individual characteristics ( R = 0.610; R2 = 0.373; F = 75.991; p <0.001). In conclusion, increased level of satisfaction with the existing physical characteristics of the gardens resulted in an increased level in meeting the psychosocial needs of the elderly individuals, thus, the environmental satisfaction level of nursing home residents increased as well.
