The Prospects of Democratic and Participatory Managementin Municipal Schools from Araripina -Pernambuco. Abstract:The present study aimed to analyze the form of social participation in the management process in municipal schools, based on the perception of managers about the conception of democratic-participative management in the schools. The study is descriptive, with information collected through a questionnaire composed of structured and open questions, allowing qualitative and quantitative analysis. The Content Analysis was used as an analysis strategy to describe the practices and instruments used within the school unit, from the perspective of democratic and participatory management. Results suggest the recognition by the respondents of the adoption of social participation as an essential instrument in school processes. They also indicate that most managers seek their own educational experience in order to perform their duties, evidencing the need for investments in the development of management skills. In spite of the existence of integrative practices between school and community, the results indicate the form of entrance, in the function of school manager, as a disjointed element of the principles of democratic management.
