Direct ink write 3D printing of thermite into architected structures can be used to tune the reaction propagation and energy release rates. Lattice and channel structures are used to control energy flow pathways and increase the energy release rate by more than one hundred times over maximum print density thermite strips. Ashby plots are presented which highlight the design tradeoffs. Further details can be found in article, number http://doi.wiley.com/10.1002/adem.201901196, by Elliot R. Wainwright, Michael D.
