Summary. The pathogenetic events leading to the malignant transformation of Hodgkin±Reed±Sternberg cells are unknown. As Hodgkin±Reed±Sternberg cells are resistant to CD95-mediated apoptosis and chromosomal aberrations involving the 1p22 region harbouring the proapoptotic BCL10 gene represent a recurrent event in Hodgkin's disease-derived cell lines, analysis of the BCL10 gene and its transcripts was performed. As transcription of wild-type BCL10 was detected in all Hodgkin's diseasederived cell lines analysed, alterations of the coding sequence of the BCL10 gene are unlikely to contribute to the malignant transformation of the Hodgkin±Reed±Sternberg cell.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
