La discussion qui se poursuit sur la validité des diverses représentations proposées des centres luminogènes responsables de l'émission fluorescente de larges bandes spectrales dans les cristaux anorganiques prouve que les données expérimentales auxquelles on a jusqu'à présent eu recours sont insuffisantes pour établir indiscutablement dans chaque cas la suprématie de l'un d'eux. Ces données sont essentiellement la répartition énergétique spectrale de l'émission, soit sous excitation soutenue, soit un certain délai après sa brusque interruption. Le but de ce travail est de montrer tout l'intérět que peut présenter la recherche d'une méthode susceptible de fournir conjointement des informations, au moins qualitatives, sur la distribution spectrale des probabilités des transitions impliquées. Nous rappelons d'abord les développements théoriques et les approximations nécessaires permettant le calcul de la répartition énergétique spectrale I(v) d'après la distribution spectrale des probabilités P(v), dans le cas du modèle vibro‐électronique le plus simple (transitions entre deux ensembles de sous‐niveaux vibrationnels équidistants). Nous réalisons ensuite des assemblages de ces modèles élémentaires, en vue de satisfairc les divers schémas proposés pour des centres luminogènes: intervention de deux sortes de phonons, transition doublée, juxtaposition de paires de donneur‐accepteur associés, transitions prenant origine dans une bande d'états excités. Dans chaque cas, la comparaison de I(λ) et de P−1(λ) fournit une indication suffisamment nette pour y trouver un critère de validité du schéma correspondant. Dans une très prochaine publication nous décrirons une méthode, permettant d'obtenir les courbes expérimentales τ(λ) = P−1(λ) et nous discuterons les résultats obtenus avec divers luminophores.
L'étude de la cinétique des processus quadratiques des recombinaisons des porteurs de charge s'est trouvée jusqu' ici limitée aux conditions d'excitation par impulsions rectangulaires et ses résultats restaient difficilement interprétables en termes de probabilité de transitions. En effet, sous excitation modulée sinusoïdalement I = 1/2 (Im (1 − cos ω t)), le phénomène est régi par une équation de Mathieu. Nous avons calculé à l'aide d'un ordinateur la solution approximative, expérimentalement très convenable, de cette équation. La probabilité de recombinaisons y apparait caractérisée par un paramètre p proportionnel à\documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$ \sqrt {\gamma I_{\rm M} } $\end{document} (γ étant spécifique des centres impliqués) que les courbes ici présentées permettent de déterminer par la très commode méthode de phase. La méthode d'amplitude est également examinée.
