This study aims to find out the type of vocabulary learning strategies that the first year students of Faculty of Economics at Merdeka University, Pasuruan commonly use. This study used qualitative research design; that is, to analyze vocabulary learning strategies used by the students. After the students had done to fill the questionnaires, the researcher conducted one-on-one semi-structured interviews to each of the students in order to get depth information about their vocabulary learning strategies. Based on the strategies for discovering meaning; using an English-Indonesia dictionary, guessing meaning from context, and analyzing pictures or gestures were the strong preferences. While, the less-used from discovering meaning were checking for L1 cognate, analyzing affixes and roots, and analyzing part of speech. In terms of strategies for consolidating meaning; studying and practicing meaning within a group, imaging word form, and imaging word's meaning were preferred. While, the less-used strategies from consolidating meaning were testing oneself with word tests, skipping or passing new word, and continuing to study word over time.
The student's ability to understand and use academic and research vocabulary was lacking. Therefore, this research tries to enhance the students' vocabulary achievement by applying Memrise and Quizlet Applications. This research applies Classroom Action Research using four procedures: Planning, Action, Observation, and Reflection. Researchers obtained data from tests and questionnaires. The results showed that vocabulary planting through the Memrise and Quizlet applications increased student achievement. In addition, students also showed a positive attitude towards the application of Memrise and Quizlet for vocabulary learning. Lecturers or teachers can use the Memrise and Quizlet Applications as a medium to motivate students and provide fun and independent learning. Vocabulary achievement improved after learning vocabulary using Memrise and Quizlet applications from the results presented above. This study also used the Memrise and Quizlet applications to instil vocabulary. Therefore, the researcher suggests that teachers or lecturers who teach use the Memrise and Quizlet applications as alternative media to instil word material in students in the long term.
The purpose of this research was to improve the Students’ procedure text writing achievement at English Conversation Club (ECC) MAN Kota Blitar by applying Padlet. The research design used was classroom action research (CAR) which covered 4 steps; 1) Planning, 2) Acting, 3) Observing and evaluating and 4) Reflecting. The Subjects of this research were 50 students from X Grade who join ECC in MAN Kota Blitar.The data collection methods of this research were taken from administering tests and distributing the questionnaire. The research result proved that the use of Padlet for teaching writing of procedure text could increase the students’ writing achievement of procedure text from preliminary action 57.55 increased to 72.85 in cycle 1. Based on the result of cycle 1, it did not fulfill the minimum criterion mastery 75.00; therefore, the researchers continued the research to cycle 2 and got satisfying result 82.65. Furthermore, the students’ of ECC MAN Kota Blitar also presented positive attitude toward the use of Padlet in teaching and learning writing of procedure text.
The main objective of this study is to investigate, describe and analyze the direct and indirect effect of endorsing, perceived value, and perceived usefulness on purchase intention. Statistical population of the present study is all viewer five food vloggers with the most subscribers on YouTube channel in Indonesia. This study uses questionnaires as the research instrument with 200 respondents as the sample. Sampling technique is purposive sampling. This study uses Partial Least Square (PLS) to analyze the data. The result shows there is a significant direct effect of endorser credibility on perceived value and perceived usefulness. In addition, perceived value and perceived usefulness have a significant influence on purchase intention. This study also confirms that perceived value and perceived usefulness mediates the influence of endorser credibility on purchase intention. However, the other result shows that there is no significant relationship between endorser credibility of food vlogger on purchase intention. Distance and price are the main reasons customer has no purchase intention of food product that has been reviewed by endorsers.
This research aimed to boost the grammar mastery of 24 students, particularly Passive voices using the Quizizz application and to discover their reactions to the usage of that platform for learning and assessing Passive Voices at a Private University in Blitar. This research used a classroom action research design with the following procedures: planning, acting, observing and evaluating, and reflecting. The research results revealed that the usage of the Quizizz application increased the mastery of passive voices of 24 students from 54.75 in the Pre-action Test to 87.25 on the post-action test. Furthermore, the respondents responded positively toward the usage of the Quizizz platform to learn and assess Passive Voices. Referring to the findings, we can sum up that using the Quizizz Application in Passive Voice learning is extremely beneficial in improving the students' learning outcomes since the students can learn passive voice material such as they are playing games anywhere and anytime. Therefore, the researchers suggest that teachers or lecturers may apply this application to their classrooms to make fun and enjoyable learning for the students.
