The research aimed to predict farmer’s productivity level and to identify factors affecting productivity level in seaweeds farming in Muna District Southeast Sulawesi. To achieve that objectives, frontier cost function using OLS and MLE estimation method with Cobb-Douglas functional assupmtion was used. Eighty six respondents were selected by proportional random method. The results of cost function based on OLS and estimation based on MLE showed that variables of seed prices, transportation prices, labor price and amount of production had jointly significant affect. Research showed farmers achieved productivity levels between 80 to 99 percent with an average of 96 percent. Productivity level distribution was influenced significantly by seaweed sales price and dummy of marketing channels. Important policy implication was to increase amount of production to fulfill market demand can only be done by increasing scale because gap between average productivity of farmers with maximum productivity rate of allocation and best combination of inputs (best practiced farm) is fairly narrow. Increasing scale of seaweed farmers must been followed with reforming that involving the government to correct the marketing system of seaweed so gave better impact on the price at farm level that would increase farmers productivity.
Banana is one of the agriculture that has bright prospects in both the domestic and export markets, but banana farmers do not understand the potential of this banana. Therefore, a system is needed so that farmers know about the banana prospects. In marketing, until now there are still some discussions about the marketing patterns used are still quite long from farmers to consumers, increasing marketing costs incurred, marketing large margins, the benefits of each marketing institution and marketing of banana assistance. It dramatically affects the marketing of bananas in Pinrang Regency. The purpose of this study was to analyze the marketing patterns of Kepok bananas in Pinrang Regency. Determination of the sample in a study involving banana farmers, collector traders, wholesalers and retailers using the snow-balling method, samples related to all that was questioned, with the sample calculation were 30 banana farmers and 7 traders. The analytical method uses descriptive qualitative (quantitative) and quantitative (margin calculation) analysis. The results of this study indicate that farmers market their banana through two marketing channels in Pinrang Regency. There are two marketing channels, 1st channel is Farmer to Consumer, 2nd channel is Farmer to Collector Trader then to Retailer Trader and ends in Consumer. The involved marketing institutions require costs to operate marketing functions such as loading costs, transportation costs, fees, consumption and so forth.
Land is one of the potential natural resources to be developed optimally to increase local revenue. Based on the availability of water, land is grouped into two major groups, which are wetland and dry land (upland). The use of dry land for agriculture is often ignored by policy makers. Problems in dry land management vary in each region, both technical and socio-economic aspects. However, with the right strategy and technology, these problems can be overcome. Efforts to manage dry land to increase food production face problems, including steep slopes, low soil fertility, and water shortages. These problems need to be overcome by applying the right technology. Dry land management technology is available, including management of soil fertility, soil conservation, land rehabilitation, and efficient management of water resources. The problem is the weak dissemination of innovative technology to farmers and the slow adoption of this technology. Utilization of dry land to increase food production requires appropriate planning and strategies.
Balai Perikanan Budidaya Air Payau Situbondo (BPBAP) is one of the largest centres in East Java, to be precise in Situbondo Regency. BPBAP is a government- fish centre that is well developed as an engineering centre. The institution's performance resulted from the performance of employees that develop every year. To analyze the performance of BPBAP employees, this research was compiled regarding the factors that influence it. The research design used was survey research, with a total of 88 respondents. The analysis method used is multiple linear regression analysis including, t-test, F test, and coefficient. The results showed that the variables of transformational leadership style, transactional leadership style, organizational culture and motivation which had a correlation of 0.708 to performance of BPBAP employees which was a strong relationship. Furthermore, partially the transformational leadership style variable has a significant effect on performance, the transactional leadership style variable has no significant effect on performance, the organizational culture variable has a significant effect on performance and the work motivation variable has a significant effect on performance. The independent simultaneous variable has a significant effect on the dependent variable.Balai Perikanan Budidaya Air Payau Situbondo (BPBAP) is one of the largest centres in East Java, to be precise in Situbondo Regency.
