Background: Musa balbisiana Colla, known as Jantung Pisang Klutuk/Pisang Batu, is considered as a traditional food that can increase breast milk production. Little is known about its benefit in Indonesia. Thus, to examine the impact of musa balbisiana colla on the production of breast milk is needed. Objective: This study aims to examine the effect of the extract of banana flower (Musa balbisiana Colla) to increase milk production of breastfeeding mothers. Methods: This was a quasy-experimental study with pre-posttest control group design. This study was conducted in the working area of the Health Center (Puskesmas) of Pesantren II in January – February 2017. There were 16 respondents were recruited by accidental sampling, divided to intervention group (8 respondents) and control group (8 respondents). Randomization was performed to select the respondent in each group. The quantity of milk production was measured based on the volume of milk production, while the quality of milk production was based on the levels of prolactin in early (pre) and late (post) using Electro chemilumi-nescence Immunoassay (ECLIA) method. Independent t-Test was used to analyze the data. Results: Findings showed that the mean of the volume of the breast milk production in the experiment group was 470.681 ml, and in the control group was 364.650 ml with SD 113.502. While the mean of prolactin levels in the experiment group was 35.337 nanogram, and in the control group was -38.381 nanogram. There was a significant effect of consuming Musa balbisiana Colla extract on the volume of breast milk production (p-value 0.003) and prolactin levels (p-value 0.001) (<0.05).Conclusion: There was a significant effect of banana flower (Musa balbisiana Colla) extract on breast milk production and prolactin level in breastfeeding mothers. The findings of this study could be used to be alternative daily menu for postpartum mothers and a solution for midwives to deal with those who have inadequate production of breast milk and low prolactin levels.
The high number of dental and oral diseases is influenced by the main factors, lack of knowledge about oral hygiene and poor diet. Information about dental health and dental care can be obtained from various media both print media and electronic media. Purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of booklet media and picture guessing games to increase knowledge and actions of brushing teeth for students at Padangsari 02 Elementary School Semarang. Study design is a quasi-experimental design with a pre and post test group with two group design. The population of the researchers is students in grades 4 and 5 at Padangsari 02 Elementary School Semarang. Samples were taken by purposive sampling as many as 50 students, divided into two groups, namely 25 students in the booklet group and 25 students in the guessing game group. The data obtained are analyze using Wilcoxon-test and Mann-Whitney test. There was a significance differences with value of p = 0,000 between knowledge and action before and after of both groups. ,The Mann-Whitney Test showed difference in effectiveness between the two media. Game guess images is more effective than booklet with mean rank of game guess images and booklte was 29.27 and 24.25.
Introduction: SThe carbonated beverage is the main factor causing tooth erosion due to acidic and mass consumed, especially by children and adolescents.Purpose: This study was conducted to determine the differences between solubility of calcium in deciduous teeth and permanent teeth in the soaking fruit-flavored carbonated beverage. Methods: The research was a quasi experimental research with the formulated research post test only design. The sample used was 24 teeth, which consists of 12 deciduous incisors central teeth of the maxillary and 12 incisor central permanent teeth of the maxillary. The samples were divided into 6 groups and treated by soaking in the carbonated soft drinks for 30, 45, and 60 minutes. The data analysis used in this reasearch was a Two Way ANOVA test with probability p<0.05. Furthermore, the data were analyzed by the Tukey HSD test to determine the differences in each group. Results: Based on Two Way ANOVA test that was conduct, it was obtained significance value of 0.000 (p <0.05), so it can be concluded that there are significant differences between groups. From Tukey HSD test it was obtained a significance value of p<0.05 in all groups. It means that there are significant differences between each group, except in the immersion group of deciduous teeth 30 minutes with the permanent teeth 45 minutes that obtained 0,929 significance (p>0.05). It means that there was no significant differences between the two treatment groups. The result of the data analysis reveals that there was a difference in the solubility of calcium in deciduous teeth and permanent teeth. The solubility of calcium in deciduous teeth was larger than the permanent teeth at all time duration, because of the deciduous teeth had thinner and permeable enamel than permanent teeth.
Background: Anxiety in stroke patients occurs as a normal reaction to stress with life changes; however, when it becomes excessive, It becomes disabling. Effort to deal with anxiety is needed and spiritual approach nursing care is considered useful in caring patients with stroke. Objective: To examine the effect of spiritual nursing care on anxiety in stroke patients in the inpatient ward. Methods: This study used a quasy experimental design with pretest-postest control group. Thirty respondents were selected using consecutive sampling, which 15 respondents assigned in the experiment and control group. The Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale was used to measure anxiety. Data were analyzed using paired t-test and independent t-test.Results: The results showed that the mean level of anxiety in the experiment group before intervention was 29.33 and decreased to 9 after intervention, while in the control group the mean level of anxiety before intervention was 29.47 and decreased to 17.73 after intervention. Paired t-test obtained p-value 0.000 (<0.05), which indicated that there was a significant effect of spiritual nursing care on anxiety levels in patients with stroke. Conclusion: Spiritual nursing care could reduce anxiety in patients with stroke.
