Nanas merupakan salah satu buah yang mengandung vitamin C. Vitamin C merupakan senyawa kompleks yang sangat dibutuhkan oleh tubuh yang berfungsi untuk membantu pengaturan atau proses metabolisme tubuh. Di Desa Kualu Nanas, Kampar, nanas diolah menjadi keripik nanas. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui perbandingan kadar vitamin C yang ada pada nanas segar dan keripik nanas dengan menggunakan spketrofotometri Uv-Vis dengan panjang gelombang 265 nm. Hasil penelitian ini adalah pada uji linearitas didapatkan persamaan regresi linear yaitu y = 0,0809x – 0,1239. Dari persamaan regresi tersebut didapatkan kadar rata-rata nanas segar yaitu 4,274 ppm dan keripik nanas mendapatkan kadar rata-rata yaitu 2,760 ppm.
Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disease characterized by hyperglycemia, which produces free radicals, particularly reactive oxygen species (ROS), through glucose auto-oxidation and glycosylation. Administration of antioxidants and polyphenolic compound components can capture free radicals and reduce oxidative stress. Polyphenols are also able to reduce blood glucose levels by inhibiting the action of amylase enzymes as carbohydrate catabolism so that glucose absorption does not occur. One of the plants that contain polyphenols is Black Turmeric (Curcuma caesia). Some studies on the rhizomes of this plant include methanol extracts containing phenolics, Flavonoids, alkaloids, triterpenoids, saponins, and tannins. Dry powders and wet rhizome powders were studied to have antioxidant activity. Research on the inhibition of the enzyme alfa amylase is still lacking. This study aims to determine the content of chemical compounds using 70% ethanol solvent. The total phenolic and flavonoid assay with spectrophotometry, determine antioxidant activity using DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) at 490 nm and inhibition of α-amylase enzyme using 3,5- dinitro salicylic acid (DNS) at 529 nm. The results showed that phenolic levels were 235 mgGAE/100gr, flavonoids were 61 mg QE/100gr, Alkaloids 30 mg Quinine /100gr and saponin 158 mg Quillaja bark/100gr, dan tannin 535mg tannic acid/100gr. DPPH antioxidant activity obtained IC50 value of 299,18 µg/mLµg/mL and α- amylase inhibitory 50,26 µg/mLµg/mL. Ketapang (Terminalia catappa L.) is traditionally used by the community to treat infections of the skin caused by bacteria or fungi. In this study, T. catappa leaves extract was added to the liquid soap formula as an antibacterial. The purpose of this study was to determine the secondary metabolite compounds contained in T. catappa leaves extract, physical evaluation of the preparation, and antibacterial activity of liquid soap. Liquid soap formula is made with various concentrations of T. catappa leaves extract F0 (0%), F1 (1%), F2 (2%), and F3 (3%). The resulting soap was evaluated for organoleptic, pH, high foam, homogeneity, irritation, and its activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, and Escherichia coli using the disc diffusion method. The results showed that the T. catappa leaves extract contained flavonoids, tannins, saponins, and triterpenoids. The liquid soap formula F0 is clear, while F1, F2, and F3 have the characteristics of brown-dark brown, homogeneous, pH between 4.6-5.2, foam stability between 67-72%, which is not significantly different and stable after five minutes of testing, and it does not irritate the skin. Terminalia catappa leaves extracts liquid soap has antibacterial activity at a concentration of 1%, 2%, and 3%, with the largest inhibition zone diameter produced by S. aureus.
Roselle flower (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) is beneficial as an immunostimulant because of its antioxidant property. Antioxidants in roselle flower are hibiscus anthocyanin, quercetin, L-ascorbic acid and protocatechuic acid. Any potential plants for pytopharmacy should be proven beneficial and safe through preclinical and clinical trial. The purpose of this clinical trial was to determine the effect of ethanol extract of roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) to lymphocyte and CD4 cell count in healthy volunteer for 30 days. This study used pre-post treatment design. A total of 21 healthy volunteer were chosen according to inclusion and exclusion criteria and filled informed consent. Healthy volunteer were given 500 mg roselle ethanol extract powder every day for 30 days. Lymphocyte and CD4 cell count was conducted using hematology analyzer and flowcytometer. Results were analyzed using paired t test, if the distribution is not normal than Wilcoxon test will be used on 95% confidence interval. Results showed that there was no significant effect (p>0,05) of CD4 cell absolute count and there was a significant effect of CD4 percentage (p<0,05). Results on day 45 (14 days after the treatment was interrupted) showed no significant effect (p>0,05) of CD4 cell absolute count and CD4 cell percentage. The effect of CD4 cell percentage on day 31 was in normal range. This study concluded that 500 mg roselle petal ethanol extract powder (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) given everyday for 30 days showed some effect on d increasing CD4 cell percentage.
Masker gel peel-off salah satu alternatif sediaan yang memiliki kelebihan dari segi kenyamanan dalam penggunaan dan peningkatan aktivitas antioksidan dengan adanya pengaruh penggunaan basis masker gel peel-off, yaitu polivinylalkohol (PVA). Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menguji aktivitas antioksidan ekstrak daun bidara dan biji chia, memformulasikan dan mengevaluasi masker gel peel-off. Tahap formulasi masker gel peel off melalui tahap ekstraksi, uji aktivitas antioksidan, formulasi dan evaluasi. Ektraksi daun bidara dan biji chia dilakukan secara maserasi dan pengukuran antioksidan dengan metode peredaman DPPH diperoleh nilai IC50 sebesar 263,2107 ppm untuk daun bidara dan 227,6850 ppm untuk biji chia. Makser gel pell off dijadikan beberapa variasi konsentrasi ekstrak. Formulasi 0 yaitu hanya basis tanpa ekstrak, Formula I yaitu 5% ekstrak daun bidara dan 1% ekstrak biji chia, formula II yaitu 10% ekstrak daun bidara dan 2% ekstrak biji chia, dan Formulas III yaitu 15% ekstrak daun bidara dan 4% ekstrak biji chia. Formulasi terbaik dari sediaan masker gel peel-off adalah formulasi I dilihat dari hasil uji evaluasi sediaan yang meliputi uji organoleptis, uji homogenitas, uji daya sebar,uji pH, uji viskositas,dan uji waktu sediaan mongering.
