Has been done community service about dagusibu (get, use, save, and dispose) drugs correctly in Kumain Village, Rokan Hulu District, Riau. This activity is aimed to improve people's understanding in the use of drugs and is a joint effort between lecturers and the community in order to realize awareness, understanding, and community skills in using medicine properly and correctly. Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia on November 13, 2015 proclaimed "Movement of smart society using drugs" as part of efforts to promote, preventive and empower the community in increasing rational drug use. Community service activities will be conducted with socialization / workshop using lecture, discussion and guidance methods. The results of the devotion show that the Kumain Village community's understanding of obtaining, using, storing, and disposing of drugs is properly increased.
Tomato is a kind of fruit containing vitamin C. Vitamin C is needed for collagen production, bone and teeth formation, wound healing, and immunity to infection. This vitamin is dissolve in water and easy to be destroyed by light and high temperature, so the storage and condition of tomato fruits need special attention to keep an adequate vitamin C level it contained. This research aimed to determine the level of vitamin C in three kinds tomato fruits maturation degree: raw, half-mature, and mature. The quantification was conducted using spectrophotometry UV-Vis method with maximum wave length of 265 nm and absorbance of 0.475 (Y=0.0557X + 0.0789). The result showed that the average level of vitamin C in raw, half-mature, and mature tomato was 74.03666; 53.81333; and 43.56666 mg/100g, respectively. In conclusion, the level of vitamin C in raw tomato was the highest among all samples.
Manufacturing of prototype of plastics film for a biodegradable packaging from a mixture of polymer synthetic polystyrene (PS) and polycaprolactone (PCL) has been carried out. Plastics film containing of PS/PCL created by blending techniques followed by solvent casting, the ratios were 100/0, 95/5, 90/10 and 85/15. The resulting of plastic film is a clear sheet with an average thickness of 0.03 cm. The biodegradation rate profile was observed by soil burial test method to see the weight reduction of the plastic films tested for a certain period of time. The results showed that the biodegradation rate profile increased with the addition of PCL with the t50% in the 100/0, 95/5, 90/10 and 85/15 ratios respectively being 352.33; 91.19; 71.97 and 59.85 weeks, and t95% in the 100/0, 95/5, 90/10 and 85/15 ratios were respectively 677.01; 177.32; 139.43 and 115.79 weeks. Furthermore, the number of microbes present in each gram of soil is 1.83 x 105.
This researh has already done inhibition test of ethanol extract in senduduk leaves to Staphylococcus aureus. Senduduk leaves have afficacy as a fever-lowering drugs, pain relief, to treat vaginal discharge, diarrhea, and can treat variety of wound infection. Infection of wound usually infected by bacteria Staphylococcus aureus. Aims of this research is to knows inhibition the ethanol axtract senduduk leaves (Melastoma affine D.Don) to Staphylococcus aureus. Extract suspended in Na CMC 0,5%. Na CMC used as a negative control, klindamisin as a positive control, and ethanol extract of senduduk leaves with concentrations 20%, 25%, and 30%. This research used diffusion method with disk paper. The result showed the average zone of inhibition at concentrations 20%, 25%, and 30% is: 15,1mm, 15,9mm, 20,5mm, whereas the positive control is 29,15mm. Based on the criteria for the interpretation of antimicrobial agents according to Coyle (2005), the diameter of inhibition zone concentration of 20%, dan 25% are resistant (≤16 mm), and the concentration of 30% including intermediate category.Abstrak Telah dilakukan penelitian uji aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak daun senduduk terhadap Staphylococcus aureus.Daun senduduk mempunyai khasiat sebagai obat penurun demam, pereda nyeri, mengobati keputihan, diare, luka yang disebabkan oleh infeksi bakteri ataupun jamur. Salah satu penyebab infeksi pada luka adalah Staphylococcus aureus. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui dan menghitung zona bening yang diperoleh dari ekstrak daun senduduk terhadap Staphylococcus aureus. Ekstrak disuspensikan dalam Na CMC 0,5%. Ekstrak daun senduduk yang diuji adalah pada konsentrasi 20%, 25% dan 30%, klindamisin sebagai kotrol positif, dan Na CMC sebagai control hambat konsentrasi 20% dan 25% termasuk kategori resisten (≤16mm), dan konsentrasi 30% termasuk kategori intermediet 17-20mm.negatif. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode difusi agar dengan disk (cakram). Hasil penelitian didapatkan rata-rata zona hambat pada konsentrasi 20%, 25% dan 30% adalah: 15,1 mm, 15,9 mm, 20,5 mm, sedangkan pada kontrol positif sebesar 29,15 mm. Selection of the optimum medium type for biopesticide fermentation process by endophytic bacteria Bacillus subtilis AAF2 UAAC 20701 has been done. The medium type used were: Tryptic Soy Broth (TSB) medium, Luria Bertani (LB), Glucose Soybean Flour medium, and modified corn immersion. Erlenmeyer flask containing the medium to be used in the fermentation process. Then it was incubated at 27 0 C with agitation of 120 rpm. Next step, inoculum was inoculated as much as 10% (v/v) into Erlenmeyer containing the fermentation medium and incubated at 27 0 C with 120 rpm agitation. The parameters measured were pH fluctuation, bacterial cell count, growth inhibition zone of test bacteria and fungal growth inhibition measured every 24 hours for 72 hours. The results showed that the best fermentation condition for producing the highest biopesticide activity using Bacillus subtilis AAF2 UAAC 2070 from four type of testing medium was found in Corn Immersion Medium. The inhibition zone towards Ralstonia solanacearum and Xanthomonas campestris wth inhibition towards Fusarium oxysporum was 64.3% while towards Schlerotium rolfsii was 67.1 % with 48 hours of incubation time and pH changes during fermentation range from 7.0 to 7.8.
