BANCO DE LA REPÚBLICA RESUMEN. El presente documento estudia la relación de las tasas de los bonos de deuda pública del Gobierno colombiano denominados en pesos (COLT ES) emitidos en el mercado local y las de aquellos denominados en dólares colocados en mercados internacionales (COLUSD), teniendo en cuenta un conjunto de variables locales y externas que afectan su comportamiento. Para ello se utilizó un modelo VARX-MGARCH, utilizando datos diarios entre junio de 2004 y diciembre de 2014. Los principales resultados muestran evidencia de que los COLUSD han sido un canal a través del cual las señales externas se han transmitido al mercado local. Para el periodo posterior a la crisis financiera internacional de 2008 se encontró evidencia de que esto ha venido cambiando de tal forma que los choques externos se han transmitido directamente en las variables locales, lo que se explica principalmente por una mayor apertura de la cuenta de capitales, la participación de los inversionistas extranjeros en el mercado local y las mejores condiciones macroeconómicas y financieras del país. Adicionalmente, dentro de los resultados se destaca que el impacto de los Treasuries (T RSY ) sobre las variables del modelo estimado revela señales de dos tipos de choques: monetario y de riesgo internacional; y que hay evidencia de un mayor efecto del precio del petróleo sobre las tasas de los bonos en el periodo reciente. Este documento describe la evolución de las condiciones de liquidez del mercado de deuda pública colombiano a través de una batería de herramientas que capturan diferentes aspectos de la liquidez. Adicionalmente, se propone un indicador que combina estas herramientas, incorporando un conjunto amplio de información relativa a la liquidez del mercado y que facilita su monitoreo y análisis. Los resultados indican una mejora sostenida en las condiciones de la liquidez de este mercado a lo largo del periodo analizado, y se destacan algunos escenarios en los cuales la liquidez se ha deteriorado y que coinciden con periodos de estrés del mercado financiero colombiano.
En este estudio se realiza una caracterización de la microestructura del mercado cambiario de contado y forward peso-dólar en Colombia, con el objetivo de estudiar las principales dinámicas y las interacciones de todos los sectores participantes en esos mercados. Adicionalmente se busca identificar los clústeres económicos presentes en cada uno de los mercados, a través de un análisis de redes ponderadas y dirigidas durante el periodo 2013-2020. Por otra parte, se realiza un análisis descriptivo de los mercados analizados y se identifican características específicas de los montos y precios negociados por cada sector económico y, por ejemplo, se encuentra que el aumento de las negociaciones en el mercado next day y forward durante el periodo analizado estuvo soportado por factores como mayor inversión extranjera, el crecimiento de las inversiones en el exterior por parte de los fondos de pensiones y cesantías y una mayor disposición de los agentes a realizar coberturas frente al riesgo cambiario. En cuanto al análisis de redes se identifican clústeres en cada uno de los mercados, los cuales se caracterizan por tener un Intermediario del Mercado Cambiario que se especializa en ciertos sectores.
