The specific researches focused on biology teacher candidates in nowadays outbreak/pandemic (COVID-19) condition are very scarce. This study aimed to describe the profile of COVID-19 literacy level possessed by biology teacher candidate students in Indonesia. The data in this survey research was collected between January and March, 2020. The selected location was Malang, one of education city and was announced as the red zone for COVID-19 spread. The total sample were 290 students. The data collection employed the questionnaire, contained of three parts i.e. information of respondent's identity, profile of information resource, attaining time profile of COVID-19 related information, and COVID-19 literacy level. The students' literacy scores were analyzed using ANOVA to analyze the presence of student's years' effect on COVID-19 literacy of biology teacher candidate students. As a result, students' years do not have a significant effect on their COVID-19 literacy. Most students had heard of COVID-19 before the disease was reported to enter Indonesia, but only few students were categorized in high level. The campus should respond immediately to these results, considering that students act as agents of information for those around them.
Learning received by biology teacher candidates students should encourage them to think critically and become problem solver. The learning model that theoretically could stimulate critical thinking is the OIDDE (Orientation, Identify, Discussion, Decision, dan Engage in behavior). This study aim to describe the application of OIDDE learning model and to analyze the improvement of ten indicators of critical thinking skills. This research was a Classroom Action Research that conducted with Lesson Study. The research subject is 47 students, semester V, who take Environmental Science course in Biology Education Department, University of Muhammadiyah Malang. The study was conducted in 2 cycles, each cycle consisting of two meetings for 3x50 minutes. Each meeting is carried out with Lesson Study stages of Plan, Do, and See and combined with classroom action research. The data were analyzed descriptively qualitative supported with quantitative data. The results show that 1) OIDDE learning model has been implemented in according to syntax, the process improved in each cycle, and 2) ten indicators of critical thinking skills have increased, i.e. objective 16.9%, problem 17.8%, address the problem 22.3%, viewpoint 24.3%, information 19.5%, concept 21.2%, assumption 12.5%, alternative solution 8.1%, interpretation 21.0%, and implications 21.8%. All indicators in cycle 2 based on the average are excellent category.
Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk melakukan pendampingan untuk penulisan karya ilmiah remaja pada siswa MA Muhammadiyah 1 Malang. Many students in Indonesia are not responsive about the environmental problems around them. This study aimed to (1) analyze environmental literacy differences between male and female students, (2) analyze environmental literacy differences based on gender and parental occupations, and (3) analyze the influence of the interaction between gender and the parents’ occupations. This study used a quantitative approach. This study consisted of 70 students in 11th grade as a subjects. The subjects were determined randomly in three majors, i.e. multimedia, nursing, and pharmacy. Students' environmental literacy was measured using the MSELS instrument developed by McBeth, 2011. The results study showed that no significant difference in knowledge and cognitive skills between male and female students, but there were significant differences in attitudes and behavior. Moreover, there was no significant difference in knowledge, attitudes, and cognitive skills between students whose parents work. However, there were significant differences in behavior between students whose parents' jobs were different. There is a significant relationship between male students in the aspects of knowledge, attitudes, behavior, and cognitive skills, but not significantly related to female students' behavior. There was no significant interaction between male and female students and their parents' different environmental literacy occupations.
This research aimed at: describing the content of various domestic microbes in house dust of urban and rural residents, covering the amount of fungi, E.coli, Salmonella, and Shigella; and analyzing the correlation between the content of domestic microbes and inhalant allergen level in house dust of urban and rural residents. The results concluded these followings: First, house dust in rural and urban areas was identified to contain domestic microbes. Second, house dust in both urban and rural areas was identified to contain inhalant allergen. Third, there was a correlation between the content of domestic microbes and the level of inhalant allergen in house dust of urban and rural residents. However, not all types of domestic microbes had predictive correlation to the level of inhalant allergen. In the urban areas, the one with predictive correlation was Salmonella; while in the rural areas, it was E.coli.
Blended learning (B-learning), a combination of face-to-face teaching and E-learning-supported-teaching in an online course, and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools have been studied in recent years. In addition, the use of this teaching model is effective in teaching and learning conditions in which some certain subjects are appropriate for the specific teaching context. As it has been a matter of concern of the universities in Vietnam today, deep studies related to this topic is crucial to be conducted. In this article, the process of developing online courses and organizing teaching for the General Informatics subject for first-year students at the Hue University of Education with B-learning teaching model will be presented. The combination of 60% face-to-face and 40% online learning.
