This study aims to describe the use of caption on Instagram to improve students' writing skill and motivation. This research is a classroom action research (CAR). The research subject was class VIII SMP N 3 Mranggen Demak with a total of 31 students. This study was conducted in two cycles. The Pre-Test was held before the first cycle was implemented. The researcher used descriptive qualitative method to describe the use of caption on Instagram for student’s motivation and writing skill improvement. The results showed that the use of caption on Instagram can improve student’s motivation and writing skill. In the first cicle of the pre-tests that have been conducted, it was known that only 2 students (6,5%) got scores between 60 - 64. While 28 students (93%) got scores below 60. The number of students who scored above 60 increased in in the post-test I, there were 19 students with an average score of 69,5. The score of students rose significantly in the post-test II, it was found that there was a satisfactory increase in scores with the highest score of 87 and the lowest score of 66 (1 student)
Produk pangan fungsional merupakan pangan yang dikonsumsi sebagai diet biasa, namun memiliki efek fisiologis dan dapat menjaga kesehatan tubuh; salah satunya adalah minuman probiotik. Berbagai macam minuman probiotik yang dikenal secara luas diproduksi dari susu sapi, sehingga harganya relatif mahal. Padahal ada beberapa produk minuman probiotik non susu seperti: kombucha/jamur dipo, water kefir, yoghurt dari sari buah dan dari sari kurma, cider/cuka apel. Pada masa pandemi Covid-19 saat ini, selain kita dituntut untuk mematuhi dan melaksanakan protokol kesehatan, juga dituntut untuk selalu menjaga kondisi kebugaran dan kesehatan tubuh dengan cara mengkonsumsi makanan yang bergizi, serta mengkonsumsi produk pangan yang dapat memelihara dan meningkatkan imunitas tubuh. Staf pendidik di SMAN 15 Semarang sebagai garda terdepan dalam mencerdaskan anak bangsa, perlu selalu menjaga kondisi kebugaran dan kesehatan tubuh secara mandiri, salah satunya dengan mengkonsumsi produk fermentasi non susu; maka perlu dilakukan pengenalan dan pelatihan pembuatan minuman probiotik yang murah dan mudah dibuat. Para guru dan administrasi di SMAN 15 Semarang adalah sasaran yang tepat untuk diberi penyuluhan, keterampilan dan pelatihan tentang pengolahan produk minuman fermentasi non susu (kombucha dan tepache). Untuk mendapatkan data mengenai peningkatan pengetahuan/pemahaman tentang produk teh kombucha dan tepache serta istilah bahasa inggrisnya, diberikan test sebelum dan sesudah pelaksanaan kegiatan. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data test didapatkan bahwa program ini secara statistik belum optimal dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan peserta mengenai minuman probiotik dan pembuatan teh kombucha dan tepache serta istilah bahasa inggrisnya.
<p align="center"><strong>Abstrak</strong></p><p>Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian </p><p align="center"><strong>Abstrak</strong></p><p>Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif yang bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kesalahan dalam pengucapan vokal Bahasa Inggris, penyebab terjadinya kesalahan dan jenis kesalahan yang terjadi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan 224 kata yang sering salah diucapkan oleh mahasiswa. Hal ini terjadi karena perbedaan vokal dalam Bahasa Indonesia dan Bahasa Inggris, ada beberapa vokal dalam Bahasa Inggris yang tidak dimilliki oleh Bahasa Indonesia sehingga mahasiswa seringkali menggantinya dengan suara yang mirip dengan Bahasa pertama mereka. Jenis kesalahan yang terjadi dalam pengucapan vokal Bahasa Inggris adalah kesalahan substitusi, kesalahan sisipan, dan kesalahan penghilangan. Kesalahan substitusi terjadi hampir 90% dari seluruh pengucapan yang dilakukan oleh responden.</p><p> </p><p>Kata kunci: kesalahan pengucapan, substitusi, sisipan, penghilangan</p><p align="center"><strong>Abstract</strong></p><p>This is a descriptive qualitative research which aims to describe the error pronunciation of English vowel, the cause of the error, and the type of the error. The result of this research shows there are 224 words which is frequently mispronounce by the students. This is caused by the discrepancies of the vowel words in English and in Indonesian language. Some of the English vowel words do not exist in Indonesian language as a result most of the students replace those words which have similar sounds to their native language. The types of error often happened are the substitution error, inserting error, and omission error. The substitutions error is the highest error made by the students. Dusun Girikusumo, Banyumeneng Kecamatan Mranggen, Demak, Jawa Tengah merupakan salah satu sentra pengolahan rebung (bamboo shoots) menjadi produk fermentasi. Hasil fermentasi rebung dimanfaatkan sebagai sayuran isi Lumpia. Semua produsen rebung fermentasi masih menggunakan metode fermentasi alami dan menggunakan tawas (alum), pada tahap perebusan dan fermentasi. Disamping itu produsen rebung fermentasi tidak memanfaatkan limbah cair (broth) dari fermentasi rebung, sebagai ragi (starter) untuk proses fermentasi berikutnya. Pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan pengolah rebung, tentang proses produksi asinan rebung yang efisien, baik, dan aman serta meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan penyiapan starter dari biakan murni bakteri asam laktat (BAL) jenis L. plantarum. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendidikan masyarakat dan pelatihan. Luaran (outcome) yang diperoleh dari pengabdian ini adalah berupa peningkatan pengetahuan dan kapasitas pengolah rebung di Dusun Girikusumo, Mranggen Demak dalam memproduksi asinan rebung yang efisien, benar dan aman. Peserta yang berjumlah 16 orang yang terdiri dari pemasok dan pengolah rebung sudah memahami bahwasanya tawas tidak boleh dipakai dalam pengolahan rebung. Peserta paham bahwa limbah cair dari fermentasi alami rebung penuh (kaya) BAL dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai ragi untuk fermentasi rebung yang baru. Namun semua peserta tidak faham cara menyiapkan ragi starter dari kultur murni L. plantarum. Hasil pengabdian ini sangat penting agar produsen asinan rebung menghasilkan rebung yang aman pada tingkat residu cemaran logam aluminium.

This study aims to provide an analysis of TOEFL results and examine the challenges faced by non-English study program students when tackling TOEFL exam questions. The study adopts a descriptive qualitative approach, with a sample size of 30 students selected through purposive sampling from a larger population of 100 students. Data collection involved the administration of TOEFL tests and conducting interviews. The findings indicate that among the different sections of the TOEFL, Listening Comprehension posed the greatest difficulty for the participants, followed by Reading Comprehension and Structure and Written Expression. Based on the conclusions drawn from the data and explanations, it can be inferred that participants encountered the most challenges in the Listening Comprehension section of the TOEFL exam. Specifically, they struggled with long conversations, spoken passages, and short conversations in sequential order. The second most challenging section for students was Structure and Written Expression. Furthermore, the analysis reveals that within the three TOEFL sections, Structure was perceived as more difficult than Written Expression. In contrast, Reading Comprehension appeared to be the easiest section. The findings suggest that identifying difficult words presented the most significant challenge in Reading Comprehension, while identifying topics, explanatory sentences, and references were considered relatively easier. Overall, this study provides valuable insights into the specific difficulties faced by non-English study program students when attempting TOEFL exam questions, highlighting the areas that require further attention and support in their language learning journey
