PurposeThe purpose of this article is to demonstrate a conceptual framework on employee development, organizational performances and retention of Generation-Z employees in the new normal environment beyond the COVID-19 pandemic.Design/methodology/approachWith referring to the present literature and utilizing social-exchange and human needs approach, from this study, the authors illustrate a conceptual framework with democratize learning, reverse mentoring and intrepreneurship as key modifications for employee development perspective to retain Generation-Z employees and enhance organizational performance to secure the competitiveness.FindingsDemocratize learning, reverse mentoring and intrapreneurship have a significant potential impact on enhancing Generation-Z employees' development which may effect on attaining better organizational performance and employee retention. In addition, organizational performance may have a moderating effect on employee intention to stay longer.Research limitations/implicationsThe proposed conceptual framework would be empirically validated in future research.Practical implicationsBased on the framework, the authors suggest approaches for Generation-Z specific retention strategies on upgrading the employee development subcategory under human resource function in terms of minimizing the disadvantages that are associated with the work from home concept in a post-COVID-19 pandemic era.Originality/valueOne of the very first studies to propose a holistic framework on employee development that subsequently impact on retaining Generation-Z employees in a pandemic situation. This article enriches the human resource management literature by explaining the novel moderating relationship that articulated from organizational performance to employee retention and focussing on Generation-Z employees (younger generation employees).
The past decades have witnessed the beginning of a major directional change of consumer behaviour, from physical stores purchasing behaviour to online purchasing behaviour in the retailing industry, especially the youngsters in Malaysia. Therefore, the aim of this research is to evaluate and validate the impacts of perceived technology and perceived risk on the online trust and how online trust is related to online purchase intention. This study also investigates the impact of online trust in mediating the relationship between perceived technology and online purchase intention. A total of 250 sets of questionnaire were distributed to the full time undergraduate information technology students in a private university that is located in Kuala Lumpur. The findings revealed that perceived technology and perceived risk are positively related to the online trust; online trust is positively related to online purchase intention and perceived technology is positively related to the online purchase intention. In addition, the finding also concluded that perceived technology is positively related to online purchase intention, mediated by online trust.www.ccsenet.org/ijbm
The purpose of this paper is to examine the level of customer satisfaction in the parcel service delivery. A questionnaire survey based on the SERVQUAL model was carried out among 103 parcel service delivery users from the Cheras area, Kuala Lumpur. It was found that tangibility, reliability and assurance each has an impact on customer satisfaction; while empathy and responsiveness have no significant impact on customer satisfaction. The paper contributes to our knowledge on customer satisfaction by presenting the service qualities from a customer perspective and by deriving an effective approach to focus on the important dimensions in the SERVQUAL model in the parcel service delivery business. Implications and limitations from this study are also discussed.
The activity of stock taking in any business is important and must be done on a regular basis because as it ensures the company is on the right track to reach its business target. This case study is concerning the use of drones for stock taking. The main focus for this case study is the use of drones for stock taking in a Malaysian third party logistics company (company XYZ). This work will look to address on how effective or beneficial is the use of drone technology for stock take method in company XYZ and adoptability level of company XYZ to adopt drone technology. This study is in the form of an exploratory research which uses qualitative means to gather data in regards to the adoption of drone method for stock take in the company. Purposive sampling method is employed in this study. Data were collected based on interview and questionnaire done on the warehouse manager & assistant manager, stock control manager, and head of operations department. The outcome of this work showed that drone method of stock take is in fact very beneficial as there was significant reduction of duration for the stock take activity.
This study aimed to understand the inventory management of Giant Superstore Taman Connaught. The study was qualitative study that explored the ABC analysis efficiency of inventory management in Giant Superstore, Taman Connaught an outlet of GCH Retail (Malaysia) SDN. BHD. ABC analysis was one method to manage the inventory management who good position was arranged according to the category such as A category product was high in value but low in quantity and C category product was low in value and high in quantity. The elements that were selected as significance included the product consumption rate, carrying cost and replenishment product lead time which contributed toward ABC analysis of inventory management efficiency in Giant Superstore. The study indicated dissimilarities in controlling the inventory in Giant superstore. The study found Giant had used POM.net in their inventory management since this software from ABC tool. HR manager needs to recruit quality skilled workers that have proper qualifications and acceptable for particular job duties.
